Will XRP Price Skyrocket in 2026? Here’s What Could Drive the Next Big Move

Key Takeaways

  • XRP needs to clear resistance near 1.65-1.70 before a sustained move toward 1.80–2 becomes more convincing.
  • A $3 target remains conditional, requiring stronger demand and a supportive crypto market; the analyst’s roadmap extends into early 2027.
  • Spot ETFs and regulatory clarity improve access, but sustained buying matters more than previously announced milestones.

XRP is entering the final quarter of 2026 near $1.50, with bullish price forecasts competing against a more demanding reality: a recovery toward $3 would require roughly a doubling, sustained buying and a supportive broader market.

CoinGecko placed XRP near $1.49, with approximately 63.1 billion tokens circulating and a market capitalization around $94 billion. The token remained about 59% below its recorded $3.65 peak.

A major rally remains possible. But the strongest case depends on several developments aligning, rather than on one chart pattern or another Ripple partnership announcement.

XRP’s Breakout Case Starts With Resistance Near $1.70

Analyst Rudy Fares described XRP as consolidating inside a falling wedge following its summer rebound. His chart placed the token around $1.48, with a 200-day exponential moving average near $1.37 and a daily relative strength index around 55.

Fares identified a break above the wedge and a sustained recovery of $1.50 as the first step toward the 1.80-2.00 zone. His broader scenario then envisioned consolidation around 1.80–2.20, followed by an advance toward $2.75 and eventually $3.

These are an analyst’s conditional levels, rather than confirmed destinations. A falling wedge can resolve upward, but its appearance alone cannot establish buying intentions or predict timing.

For the bullish scenario to become more convincing, XRP would need to clear the recent resistance around 1.65-1.70, attract stronger spot trading volume and retain those gains during pullbacks.

Importantly, Fares’s roadmap allowed the eventual $3 test to extend into early 2027. His analysis, therefore, does not support treating that target as an assured outcome for 2026.

ETFs and Regulatory Clarity Could Support Demand

Investment access has improved substantially since XRP’s earlier market cycles.

Bitwise launched its spot XRP ETF in November 2025, providing brokerage investors with exposure to the token through a fund that holds it. Such products can broaden participation beyond traders willing to manage cryptocurrency wallets directly.

However, an ETF’s existence does not guarantee persistent demand. The relevant signals are net creations, redemptions, and changes in XRP holdings, not simply rising fund assets, which can reflect price appreciation.

The legal backdrop has also changed. In August 2025, the SEC and Ripple dismissed their appeals, resolving the enforcement action while leaving the district court’s final judgment, including its penalty and injunction, effective. The SEC’s 2026 guidance subsequently listed XRP as an example of a digital commodity.

Those developments reduce some uncertainty surrounding access and classification. Yet they are already known to the market. A fresh rally would require additional demand or a change in expectations, rather than repeated recognition of earlier milestones.

Ripple’s Payments Growth Must Translate Into XRP Demand

Ripple’s expansion provides a credible business narrative, but company growth and token appreciation are separate questions.

In March, Ripple said its payments platform had processed more than $100 billion in total volume. It described infrastructure supporting fiat, stablecoins, and other digital assets, including customer activity involving RLUSD.

That breadth matters: a payment processed through Ripple does not necessarily require XRP as the bridge asset.

Likewise, dividing the annual remittance market by XRP’s supply yields no reliable price target. Annual payment volume measures the amount of money moving over time; market capitalization measures the value assigned to circulating tokens at a given price.

The same XRP can facilitate multiple transfers. Faster reuse can reduce the inventory required to support a given payment flow, although real operations also need liquidity buffers and protection against volatility.

A stronger adoption-based argument would therefore require evidence of growing XRP-specific settlement activity, deeper currency corridors and institutions holding meaningful XRP inventories. Partnership counts and payment-volume headlines cannot, by themselves, establish those outcomes.

Escrow Releases and Liquidity Shape the Supply Picture

Ripple’s escrow mechanism also requires careful interpretation.

The original framework made up to one billion XRP available monthly and returned unused tokens to later escrow periods. An unlock releases existing XRP from restrictions; it does not create new tokens or prove that the entire amount was sold.

The market impact depends on how much is retained, re-escrowed, distributed or offered for sale.

At approximately 63.1 billion circulating tokens, a $2 price would imply a market capitalization near $126 billion. At $3, that figure would approach $189 billion, assuming circulation remains unchanged.

Those increases would not require an equivalent dollar amount of fresh investment. Prices are established through trading at the margin, with liquidity determining how strongly orders move the market.

What Would Make or Break a Year-End Rally?

The upside case combines a confirmed breakout, sustained investment demand, and broader appetite for altcoins.

Fares identified $1.30 as an important invalidation level, with $1.20 and $1 potentially exposed if the structure fails.

A move toward $2 is a smaller hurdle than $3. The latter remains a demanding scenario requiring stronger follow-through.

For 2026, XRP’s most useful test is whether demand strengthens enough to turn resistance into lasting support.
