Key Takeaways
  • Flare CEO Hugo Philion says David Schwartz may underestimate how large XRP lending could become.
  • The CEO also explained how Flare intends to expand access to lending for XRP Ledger users.
  • EGRAG’s $90 XRP projection has received pushback.

Flare CEO Hugo Philion says XRP lending could grow beyond even ex-Ripple CTO David Schwartz’s expectations, as analyst EGRAG maps out a potential rally toward $90.

The bullish outlook comes as Flare expands what holders can do with XRP, though some proposed wallet infrastructure is still under development.

Philion Bets on a Bigger XRP Lending Market

In an Oct. 7 post, Philion described Schwartz as positive about lending on the XRP Ledger, then suggested that even one of the network’s principal architects could be overlooking its potential scale.

“I’d wager that even he is underestimating quite how big it can be!” Philion wrote.

Philion also outlined how Flare intends to expand access to lending for XRP Ledger users, arguing that its external infrastructure could support applications with more complex functionality.

“What people have massively missed IMO is that through Protocol Managed Wallets (PMW) and the Flare Confidential Compute (FCC) stack any application can be built with as much logic as you want that is effectively native to XRPL,” he wrote in a reply.

He described the combination as “as close a proxy the XRPL can have to having full smart contract capabilities.”

In practice, his proposal would use Flare’s infrastructure to power applications connected to the XRP Ledger.

That could expand what users can do with their assets without requiring the application’s full logic to run on XRPL itself.

“So we have plans for XRPL lending indeed,” Philion added.

What XRP Holders Can Already Use

Flare already provides a route for XRP to enter decentralized finance through FXRP, a token representing XRP bridged to its network.

Its developer documentation identifies lending, borrowing and liquidity provision among FXRP’s uses.

These activities occur via smart contracts outside the XRP Ledger.

One existing example is the FXRP/RLUSD borrowing market on Morpho Blue.

In its Aug. 3 announcement, Flare explained that users mint FXRP, deposit it as collateral, and borrow Ripple’s dollar-pegged RLUSD stablecoin.

That allows holders to access liquidity while retaining exposure to XRP’s price.

It also creates a repayment obligation as borrowers must return the stablecoins plus interest, and their collateral can be liquidated if their loan-to-value ratio exceeds the market’s threshold.

EGRAG Maps XRP Price Rally Toward $90

In an Oct. 6 post on X, EGRAG outlined an Elliott Wave scenario that puts XRP’s eventual fifth wave in the $90-plus region.

His chart first projects a rise to approximately $27 during a third-wave move, followed by a fourth-wave correction before another advance.

“Yellow Wave 3 → ~$27,” he wrote, before identifying “Wave 5 → $90+ region.”

Elliott Wave analysis interprets price movements as sequences of advances and corrections.

EGRAG’s scenario anticipates a substantial pullback between its two bullish targets, rather than an uninterrupted climb to $90.

His latest projection follows a September analysis in which he raised the possibility of a 50-fold rally and a $50 price for XRP, drawing comparisons to the accumulation phase preceding the token’s 2017 surge.

He said the resemblance emerged while building a new monthly chart, particularly within areas he identified as bear-market accumulation zones.

“During these bear-market accumulation phases, 3 consecutive GREEN monthly candles are extremely rare,” he wrote.

EGRAG pointed to a three-month positive sequence in 2016 and suggested XRP could repeat it in 2026 if September closed higher.

At the time of the post, that final monthly candle remained unfinished.

“Am I saying it WILL happen 100%? NO,” he wrote, adding:

“If history rhymes, the numbers become VERY interesting. If it doesn’t, the thesis changes.”

How Much Would XRP Price Need to Rise?

With XRP trading around $1.42 at the time of reporting, reaching $90 would require a gain of approximately 6,238%, or roughly 63.4 times its current price.

Using a circulating supply of 60 billion tokens, XRP at $90 would have a market capitalization of $5.4 trillion.

Every additional billion tokens in circulation would add another $90 billion to that figure.

Applied to XRP’s maximum supply of 100 billion tokens, the target would produce a fully diluted valuation of $9 trillion.

XRP Community Pushes Back on Bullish Forecast

EGRAG’s projection drew skeptical responses from some XRP community members, who questioned the target’s massive scale.

“It won’t go to $27 and then back down to $3,” one user wrote.

Another account predicted XRP “won’t even break $1.85 by the end of the year.”

The replies highlight growing frustration among followers over the gap between ambitious chart targets and XRP’s current trading price.

Another disgruntled X user wrote:

“You have been saying it’s going to XYZ for a long long time….it’s stuck at $1.50.”

Other Forecasters Set Even Higher XRP Price Targets

EGRAG’s projection joins several more aggressive XRP forecasts.

Analyst Gert van Lagen recently outlined a target near $50 in an Oct. 6 post, describing the scenario as “normal bull market dynamics.”

His comparison combines Bitcoin reaching approximately $450,000 with XRP recovering an XRP/BTC ratio near 0.00011.

Both conditions would need to materialize for that calculation to produce a price close to $50.

XRP advocate Jake Claver has gone considerably further, maintaining a $10,000 target for late 2026 or early 2027.

As CCN reported, Claver’s argument envisages an initial rise to $50–$100 followed by broader changes in XRP’s role in institutional finance.
