Bitcoin Bulls Predict $500,000 — 4 AI Models Assess Claim as AI Bubble Fears Grow

Key Takeaways
  • Bitcoin’s slide alongside technology shares highlights the immediate risks of a deeper AI sell-off.
  • Standard Chartered’s $500,000 forecast depends on longer-term adoption, while Arthur Hayes argues an AI crisis could eventually benefit crypto.
  • Reaching $500,000 from an illustrative $82,000 would require a gain of approximately 510%.

Bitcoin price predictions of $500,000 and beyond have become a recurring theme among its biggest backers, with Standard Chartered targeting half a million dollars by 2030 and prominent crypto executives outlining seven-figure scenarios.

But those bullish forecasts face a growing threat that the artificial intelligence investment boom could unravel, dragging Bitcoin down with technology stocks.

For BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes, however, an AI crash could become part of Bitcoin’s route to much higher prices.

He expects an initial sell-off followed by government intervention that could fuel a new crypto rally.

Could that sequence help Bitcoin reach $500,000 by 2030 — or leave its most ambitious forecasts further out of reach?

Why AI Bubble Fears Matter for Bitcoin

The Nasdaq Composite dropped 2.6% on Oct. 22, while the S&P 500 fell approximately 1.2%, as concerns about the sustainability of the AI boom weighed on technology stocks.

At the center of the debate is whether spending on data centers and power infrastructure will generate enough income to justify the investment.

For Bitcoin, the immediate danger is that investors facing losses elsewhere reduce their crypto exposure to raise cash.

A deeper decline could also trigger leveraged liquidations, amplifying selling pressure.

Arthur Hayes Says Bitcoin Could Fall Before an AI Bust Fuels Its Recovery

However, Hayes has repeatedly argued that Bitcoin’s next major rally could emerge from the collapse of the AI investment boom.

In a Bankless interview previously covered by CCN, he linked an AI collapse and the following monetary expansion to his $1 million Bitcoin outlook.

He believes AI companies have absorbed capital that might otherwise have flowed into crypto, while borrowing heavily to finance their expansion.

An unwind could initially make conditions worse for Bitcoin as investors absorb losses and lenders become more cautious.

“I am confident that Bitcoin will dump then pump,” Hayes wrote.

In comments covered by CCN on Oct. 14, Hayes questioned the loans financing graphics processing units, which can lose value as newer chips arrive.

However, Hayes expects governments and central banks to respond to a sufficiently severe crisis with financial support, potentially creating a fresh source of demand for Bitcoin.

Which Executives and Institutions See Bitcoin Above $500,000?

Several prominent investors and financial institutions have outlined scenarios that could push Bitcoin to $500,000 or higher.

Standard Chartered: $500,000 by 2030

Standard Chartered offers one of the clearest forecasts for the milestone.

In December 2025, digital assets research head Geoffrey Kendrick pushed the bank’s $500,000 target from 2028 to 2030, acknowledging that earlier projections had been too aggressive.

“Our previous near-term targets are wrong,” Kendrick wrote.

The revised outlook placed greater weight on ETF demand as corporate treasury buying weakened.

It went on to cut its end-2026 BTC target to $100,000 in February 2026, but maintained its longer-term forecasts.

Cathie Wood’s ARK Invest: A Multitrillion-Dollar Bitcoin Market

Cathie Wood’s ARK Invest projected a Bitcoin market capitalization of approximately $16 trillion by 2030 in its Big Ideas 2026 research.

That would imply a Bitcoin price above $760,000 even using the full maximum supply of 21 million coins.

ARK’s official 2030 forecast also included a $300,000 bear case, a $710,000 base case and a $1.5 million bull case.

Tom Lee: $2 Million

Fundstrat co-founder Tom Lee also believes Bitcoin could ultimately trade as high as $2 million.

“Wallets and activity per wallet still explain, even now, 87% of the rise of Bitcoin,” he said.

Lee said that if Bitcoin hits a network similar to gold’s, “that would put Bitcoin at around $2 million.”

Can BTC Reach $500,000 Even if the AI Bubble Bursts?

In order to answer this question, CCN asked four leading AI models for their take — and the responses differed greatly.

ChatGPT

“Bitcoin could reach $500,000 by 2030 even if the AI bubble bursts, but a crash could make the journey considerably more difficult.

“The immediate impact would likely be negative if investors sold Bitcoin to cover losses elsewhere. Falling confidence and leveraged liquidations could deepen the decline.

“A later recovery would depend on renewed demand, institutional adoption and financial conditions. An AI crash would not necessarily invalidate the $500,000 scenario, but it could delay it substantially.”

Gemini

“An AI bubble bursting would not automatically eliminate Bitcoin’s longer-term potential. The crucial question would be whether the damage remained concentrated in technology stocks or spread into the financial system.

“If policymakers responded with substantial monetary easing, Bitcoin could benefit as investors regained confidence and sought alternative stores of value.

“However, reaching $500,000 would still require a major expansion in demand. Bitcoin’s limited supply alone would not guarantee that outcome.”

Claude

“Bitcoin reaching $500,000 despite an AI crash is conceivable, but describing it as likely would require stronger evidence.

“A collapse could weaken institutional demand, tighten credit and leave investors less willing to hold volatile assets. Those effects might persist even after policymakers intervened.

“The bullish argument assumes both a substantial policy response and renewed investment in Bitcoin. Neither is assured, making $500,000 a conditional scenario rather than a dependable forecast.”

Grok

“An AI crash could initially push Bitcoin sharply lower while potentially creating conditions for a later rally.

“If the disruption triggered a large and sustained liquidity response, Bitcoin could benefit from improving financial conditions and renewed appetite for scarce assets.

“That could keep $500,000 by 2030 within a bullish scenario. But a bailout would not be enough on its own: Bitcoin would still need sustained buying, broader adoption and investors willing to hold through substantial volatility.”

How Much Would Bitcoin Need To Rise?

Using a starting price of $82,000, Bitcoin would need to rise approximately 510% to reach $500,000, taking its price to roughly 6.1 times that level.

BTC starting price Gain required to reach $500,000
$82,000 510%
$70,000 614%
$60,000 733%
$50,000 900%

At $500,000, BTC would have a fully diluted valuation of $10.5 trillion, based on its maximum supply of 21 million coins.

This would exceed the combined annual economic output of Germany and Japan, which totaled roughly $8.9 trillion in 2024, according to World Bank data.

It would also equal 9% of the entire world’s $118.4 trillion economic output in 2025.

Reaching that massive valuation would require a never-before-seen expansion of Bitcoin’s role in global investment portfolios.
