Meghan Markle ‘Joke’ Isn’t Bullying. It’s Ellen DeGeneres Being Unfunny

  • Meghan Markle was the victim of an Ellen DeGeneres “joke” in 2017.
  • Of course, what wasn’t offensive three years ago can easily be considered tantamount to hate speech in “woke” 2020.
  • Sorry folks, the “joke” is just that. A joke. If anything, it’s guilty of being a terrible attempt at humor, but bullying? Not a chance.

We all know that Ellen DeGeneres has certainly not had her problems to seek of late,  and the last thing she needs is another pile-on from the celebrity circuit. Especially not from the Meghan Markle fanbase.

Unfortunately, things may be about to go from bad to worse for the beleaguered talk show host.

That’s right. She made a terrible joke about Meghan back in 2017 when the future failed royal had just announced her engagement with Prince Harry.

Watch as “canceled” Ellen DeGeneres makes an apology to staff:

So, what exactly did Ellen DeGeneres say about Meghan Markle?

Brace yourself for this one.

As reported by the Mirror,  Ellen said:

Prince Harry could have walked away with millions had he picked a different model.

You see, this hilarious jape harks back to Meghan Markle spending time working as a “briefcase model” for the game show Deal Or No Deal.

You know, back before she was a woke feminist social campaigner. Back when she had zero reservations about using her looks to get ahead, and when being branded a “babe,” who’s job was to stand around smiling while being ogled wasn’t as big a problem.

Ellen then went on to explain how Meghan was:

The holder of Case 24, which means if Harry had picked the other model, he could’ve gotten a million dollars!

Yeah, it’s not funny. At all.

If anything, Case 24 has cost Prince Harry millions of dollars. And poor old Prince Charles too.

It’s cool to rag on Ellen, but let’s call this for what it is – a bad joke

I know it’s all the rage at the moment to kick Ellen DeGeneres when she’s down, and hey, much of the criticism she gets is entirely deserved.

She’s admitted as much.

But we live in an era where you don’t get to better yourself and learn from your mistakes. Once you’re branded, you’re cast out for life.

Those who falter are told to “educate themselves,” which is rather pointless when said education wouldn’t make any difference as you’ve been blacklisted already.

“Cancelled,” as the woke kids say these days.

I don’t buy into the frenzy, which is why I stop short at calling Ellen’s potshot at Meghan Markle bullying.

It isn’t bullying. At least, it wasn’t back in 2017, which seems like so long ago now.

A simpler time. A better time in many regards. A time when being “woke” meant that you weren’t still in bed.

Wait, isn’t Ellen DeGeneres friends with Meghan Markle?

Apparently, Meghan Markle is friends with Ellen DeGeneres. So, while Meghan has been sounding off right, left and center via her mouthpiece in Finding Freedom, Ellen has never been a target for her pity party.

In fact, many tabloids claimed that Meghan Markle and Ellen would be friends living in the same wealthy, privileged part of California.

Surely you wouldn’t spend your husband’s money to live next to someone who bullied you and said nasty things about one of the highlights of your working career?

I’m not quite sure what value Ellen has to someone like Meghan Markle at this stage. If the talk show host continues hurtling towards becoming a pariah, I have no doubt Meghan will quickly distance herself from her.

At that point, the joke that proved inoffensive for the better part of three years may suddenly become an issue.
