Fresh leak from legitimate source unveils new info about Diablo 4. Upcoming action-RPG set to take on a darker tone and hark back to cult ...
According to a leak posted on Reddit late yesterday, Diablo 4 is set to channel the very elements that made Diablo 2 a cult classic.
The leak comes from a source with a known track record. This gives it a legitimacy often absent from most out in the wild rumors. They were able to correctly predict Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, as well as Ghost Recon Breakpoint, details ahead of official announcements.
Respected industry analyst, Daniel Ahmad, tweeted that the details correlate with much of what he knows about Diablo 4. That’s a pretty decent seal of approval if we’ve ever seen one.
According to the leak, Diablo 4 takes on a gloomier tone than the previous entry. There’s an emphasis on ‘toned down’ locations that are larger with an open-world component. These include wastelands, crypts, caves, wetlands, deserts, and ‘plagued’ cities.
As for more granular details, the leak reads;
Characters now are able to ride horses (possibly other mounts), also there’s contextual interaction with environment? – climbing a wall Lost Ark style. Blood splatters look more like blood and not splashed jam too.
The suggestion is that the gameplay is also more dynamic than Diablo 3, alongside smoother animations and combat that feels weighty and impactful.
The leak reveals three known classes in Diablo 4. These include an elemental magic-wielding mage class, a melee barbarian class, and a druid class capable of shape shifting into various beasts.
Four-player co-op returns and the leak suggests player vs. player combat may feature at launch.
The leak says there are many Diablo 2-like aspects to Diablo 4, which will please franchise fans;
Lilith being the new diablo (she’s covered in blood veil kinda), characters being shown sitting at a campfire as character selection, nitty gritty dark style that 2 was praised for, some skills also seem to be just taken from it and put in here (like sorceress’ charged bolt).
As always, a dose of salt is a prerequisite. But, going by previous rumors that Blizzard is set to formally unveil Diablo 4 during BlizzCon, we shouldn’t have too long to wait for confirmation.
The event starts today although we shouldn’t expect an announcement until tomorrow at the earliest. Here’s hoping it won’t be as awkward as last year’s Diablo Immortal announcement. Check out the video below if you missed it first time round.
