Key Takeaways
  • A new $8 XRP price forecast is being put to the test.
  • Both ChatGPT and Grok offered bearish takes on the forecast.
  • Technical indicators remain weak, according to analysts.

Standard Chartered analyst Geoffrey Kendrick recently forecasted that XRP’s price could climb to $8 by 2026, implying upside of more than 300% from current levels near $1.90.

Kendrick argues that improving regulatory clarity and potential ETF access could materially expand XRP’s investor base and real-world usage.

Still, skepticism remains widespread.

XRP is down roughly 7% year-to-date, and social market sentiment continues to hover at low levels.

To assess whether the bullish call is possible, CCN asked OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Elon Musk’s Grok for their views.

ChatGPT’s Take

ChatGPT cautioned that price targets well above historical highs require far more than regulatory momentum.

“XRP has existed for over a decade. It is widely known, deeply liquid, and already integrated into global payment discussions,” it wrote.

Adding: “A move to $8 would not come from discovery — it would have to come from renewed conviction.”

The AI model was blunt about what that would require.

“To justify a 300%+ re-rating of the price, XRP would need clear evidence of accelerating real-world settlement volumes and consistent institutional adoption,” it said.

“Can that happen in under a year? It doesn’t sound very likely.”

Grok’s Outlook

Grok took a much harsher stance, questioning whether the $8 target has any realistic chance at all, even over a longer time horizon.

“This is what happens when legacy finance models crypto like a commodity instead of a network,” Grok said.

According to the chatbot, ETF approval alone is insufficient to trigger a multi-year repricing.

“ETFs create access, not inevitability. They don’t force demand, and they certainly don’t force utility,” it wrote.

Grok argued that XRP’s long history works against the bullish case.

“XRP isn’t an emerging asset. It’s a mature one with a well-understood ceiling. Betting on a 4x move assumes the market suddenly decides it undervalued XRP for ten years.”

It then turned sharply bearish on the asset.

“To be honest, it’s possible the whole floor will fall out from underneath it, and it won’t be worth anything at all.”

CCN Reality Check on XRP Price

XRP currently trades well below its all-time high, with technical indicators offering little confirmation of a sustained breakout.

At the time of reporting, XRP was trading at $1.86, down more than 15% over the past month.

“Looking at the daily chart, XRP still lacks a clear pathway to a durable uptrend,” CCN analyst Victor Olanrewaju said in a recent report.

According to Olanrewaju, the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) has failed to decisively flip bullish and is beginning to show signs of bearish divergence relative to price action.

“This setup implies that any break above resistance may be difficult to sustain in the near term,” he wrote.

Adding: “That’s not a setup that typically supports aggressive upside targets.”

If buying pressure strengthens and momentum confirms, XRP could attempt a push toward $2.13 in a more constructive scenario, he said.

However, if demand remains weak, Olanrewaju warned that XRP risks slipping back toward $1.77.
