Key Takeaways

  • Ripple has launched an AI-only security review of XRPL Lending Protocol V1.1 using Sherlock’s Audit Engine.
  • XRP has gained roughly 20% over the past week, briefly hitting $1.70 before pulling back.
  • XRP ETFs recorded seven consecutive days of inflows totaling $106 million, adding institutional momentum.

Ripple has begun an AI-only security review of its XRP Ledger Lending Protocol V1.1, putting artificial intelligence at the center of an audit that could prove important for XRPL’s push deeper into decentralized finance.

Sherlock announced that Ripple is using its Audit Engine to conduct an intensive review of the protocol.

The system combines multiple AI auditors and frontier models equipped with specialized security capabilities, adjusting the depth of testing according to the protocol’s complexity and potential attack surface.

The audit comes at a pivotal moment for XRP. The token has gained around 20% over the past week after breaking above its 200-day exponential moving average for the first time since October 2025.

Ripple Puts XRPL Lending Protocol Through AI-Only Audit

Sherlock said its Audit Engine will review Lending Protocol V1.1 without relying on conventional human-led auditing, making Ripple one of the more prominent crypto companies experimenting with AI-only security analysis.

The significance extends beyond the technology used for the audit.

A native lending protocol could expand XRP Ledger’s DeFi capabilities by allowing users to access onchain credit markets directly within the ecosystem.

That makes security particularly important, as lending protocols can concentrate large pools of capital and have historically been frequent targets for crypto exploits.

The test also comes as the industry reassesses traditional audits.

CoinGecko found that roughly 60% of crypto platforms exploited since early 2025 had previously undergone independent audits, although most attacks targeted vulnerabilities outside the scope of conventional audits.

Sherlock said it will publish further details once the XRPL review is complete.

XRP ETF Inflows Add Fuel to $1.80 Target

The security review arrives as XRP enjoys renewed institutional demand.

XRP-linked ETFs recorded their seventh consecutive day of positive flows on Wednesday, attracting a combined $106 million over that period, according to FXEmpire.

XRP also recently reclaimed its 200-day EMA at around $1.35, triggering a sharp short squeeze that propelled the token to as high as $1.70.

Buyers subsequently defended the $1.35 region after profit-taking pushed prices lower. That level now represents a crucial technical line for bulls.

Holding above it could preserve the broader breakout structure and reopen a path toward $1.60 and potentially $1.80.

A decisive loss of the 200-day EMA, however, would weaken the setup and increase the risk of a deeper correction.

XRP Price Faces a Crucial Test After 20% Rally

XRP’s latest rally is unfolding against a more supportive backdrop than earlier this month.

After reaching $1.70 last week, XRP has pulled back toward $1.40-$1.45.

With ETF inflows strengthening and Ripple expanding XRPL’s financial infrastructure, the AI security test adds another potential catalyst, or risk, to the token’s increasingly volatile setup.

Crypto market sentiment has moved into “Extreme Greed,” while regulatory developments in the US and shifting expectations around Federal Reserve policy have fueled renewed appetite for risk assets.

XRP-specific catalysts are also accumulating. Beyond ETF inflows and the XRPL lending initiative, Mastercard has been confirmed as a sponsor of the XRP Ledger Hackathon scheduled for October, while institutional interest in Ripple’s broader payments ecosystem continues to grow.

Still, the Lending Protocol review introduces a near-term variable.

A clean AI audit would strengthen the security case for expanding XRPL’s DeFi ecosystem.

The discovery of serious vulnerabilities, by contrast, could delay deployment and subject the network’s ambitions to renewed scrutiny.
