  • The countdown before Prince Harry and Meghan Markle officially break from royal life is winding down.
  • Insiders wonder if Meghan was ever up for the trials and tribulations of the lifestyle.
  • Lady Anne Glenconner believes that Meghan thought royal life consisted of driving around in a golden coach.

It’s evident that most Meghan Markle fans don’t understand how the royal family operates. We should give them a pass, though, because it’s even more clear that Meghan never realized what becoming a royal actually meant either.

According to recent comments from former lady-in-waiting Lady Anne Glenconner, Meghan harbored wildly-unrealistic expectations about royal life .

I think she thought she could drive around in a golden coach.

Sorry Meghan, that’s only true if you’re a character in a Disney cartoon. And no, having your royal husband beg to have you do voice-overs for Disney doesn’t count!

There’s more to being a royal family member than being famous

It seems pretty apparent that Meghan Markle vastly underestimated what being a member of the royal family entails.

Lady Anne has been with the royal family for generations, and it’s fair to say that she knows a thing or two about how the royal family operates.

She is very much a traditionalist who leans towards the old school approach. That obviously wouldn’t mesh well with the viewpoint of the Sussex Squad, who see the royal family and their fans as nothing more than a bunch of racists.

Racists” whose brand Meghan Markle could exploit to make hundreds of millions of dollars.

Princess Margaret embodies the royal family’s true nature

Lady Anne spent a lot of time alongside Princess Margaret, who did so much for charity that went relatively unpublicized.

Of course, she wasn’t looking for accolades:

My favorite times with Princess Margaret were the time I spent alone with her. We used to garden, she used to lay my fires because I wasn’t a Girl Guide. We used to go for walks and go to the beach. And when I lived with her for a year at Kensington Palace and whenever we weren’t doing anything, we would get together.

None of these stories are recorded on a blatantly curated Instagram account  with bought followers. Nor were they staged with a swarm of media in attendance.

The royals, just like any other family, experience good times as well as bad. No one is perfect, but they tend to embody an “all in this together” spirit.

Meghan Markle didn’t seem to buy into that.

The intricacies of royal life elude Meghan Markle and her fanbase

You’d think that Meghan would have been clued in on what royal life would entail before dumping her celebrity chef boyfriend and latching onto Prince Harry. After all, previous love interests of the young prince had fallen by the wayside due to the spotlight shone on them.

Then again, maybe being part of royal life was never on the agenda for Meghan anyway. It’s difficult to imagine that what we see today wasn’t always the long-term goal of the former “briefcase babe.”
