By CCN.com: Apple, the Cupertino-based tech company that’s infamous of its extremely high price tags, is likely to release its ‘Netflix for App Store games’ Apple Arcade subscription at the consumer-friendly $4.99 monthly fee.

Apple Arcade is a great deal for iOS gamers

A promotional message inside Apple Arcade – the subscription service allowing iOS, Mac, and Apple TV users to play over 100 App Store games for a flat monthly fee – revealed a price of $4.99/month with a one month free trial for the game plan, 9to5Mac reported  yesterday.

As Apple is well-known for its expensive products and services, Arcade’s pricing comes as a relief for App Store game fans. Moreover, you can share your Apple Arcade subscription  with all members in a Family Sharing account.

Since it will likely feature  the same pricing as its competitor, Android’s Google Play Pass, the consumer-friendly monthly fee of Apple Arcade comes even more as a surprise.

$4.99/month to avoid crappy freemium games

But why would anyone buy an iOS game if there are plenty available in the App Store for free? First, non-paid games in the App Store aren’t really “free”.

Most of them are based on the freemium model coming with tons of ads and in-game purchases. And believe me or not, these can seriously ruin your gaming experience and can cost you more money in the long run .

Second – while free games tend to be more popular than paid ones in the App Store –, most of them don’t even come close to the quality of apps with price tags. So, most of the time, you have to pay up to play high-quality iOS games.

Looking at the prices, the top 10 paid iOS games  cost $2.89 on average in the US App Store – starting with Minecraft’s hefty price tag of $6.99.

So, if you play Minecraft alone with Apple Arcade in a month, your subscription will be well worth it. And I’m sure most Arcade subscribers will play a lot more games than that in a month.
