Key Takeaways

  • Ali Charts believes XRP has broken above a descending resistance line on its one-hour chart, putting the previous $1.70 high back in view.
  • US spot XRP ETFs attracted $110.49 million during the week ending Aug. 28, their strongest weekly inflow of 2026.
  • XRP remains around 7% lower over the past week, with CoinMarketCap warning that a loss of the $1.35 support could deepen the correction.

XRP price may be preparing to revisit $1.70 after breaking through a short-term resistance line, according to crypto analyst Ali Charts.

The bullish call comes as US spot XRP exchange-traded funds recorded their strongest weekly inflows of 2026.

XRP Breakout Puts $1.70 Back in View

Ali Charts wrote on X that XRP’s price had “cleared resistance,” declaring the breakout confirmed and identifying $1.70 as the token’s next target.

Ali’s call came one day after he highlighted the importance of XRP’s support between $1.35 and $1.38.

The analyst said XRP had risen 71.8% from $0.988 to $1.698 before entering a correction of approximately 20%.

If that support holds, Ali identified $1.60 and $1.68 as the next resistance levels.

Approximately 1.99 billion XRP and 1.98 billion XRP were previously traded around those respective prices.

The analyst also highlighted $1.86 as a more substantial barrier, with around 3.47 billion XRP previously traded at that level.

A decisive break above $1.86 could, in his view, open a path toward $2.19.

However, his immediate $1.70 target would first require XRP to reclaim the high reached during its August rally.

XRP ETF Inflows Reach 2026 High

The technical breakout arrived alongside a sharp rise in demand for US spot XRP ETFs.

The funds attracted $110.49 million in net inflows during the week ending Aug. 28, marking their strongest weekly performance of 2026, according to SoSoValue data reported by BeInCrypto.

The total more than doubled the previous weekly high for 2026, approximately $60.5 million, recorded in May.

However, it remained below the all-time weekly record of $243.95 million set in November 2025.

The latest inflows pushed the funds’ cumulative net inflows to approximately $1.66 billion, while their combined net assets reached $1.44 billion.

Weekly trading volume also climbed to $363.03 million, its highest level since the XRP funds launched.

On Aug. 28 alone, the ETFs attracted $26.2 million in inflows, despite weakness in parts of the wider crypto market.

XRP Price Falls as Investors Rotate Toward Bitcoin

Despite Ali’s lower-timeframe breakout signal, XRP remained under pressure across longer timeframes.

At the time of writing, XRP was trading near $1.38, down approximately 0.78% over the previous 24 hours and around 7% over the past week.

The token underperformed Bitcoin as investors rotated away from altcoins following hawkish signals from Federal Reserve officials.

CoinMarketCap’s analysis identified rotation as the primary reason for XRP’s weakness.

Its Altcoin Season Index had dropped 7.69% over 24 hours to 24, placing the market firmly in “Bitcoin Season,” while Bitcoin dominance rose to 59.73%.

CoinMarketCap said technical consolidation and profit-taking following XRP’s 71.8% rally were also weighing on the token.

The platform described XRP’s immediate outlook as neutral to bearish, with the next move likely to depend on whether buyers continue defending $1.35.

Holding above that level could support a recovery toward $1.45-$1.50 before Ali’s higher $1.70 target returns to view.
