Key Takeaways

  • Bitget has launched Stock+, a new feature that allows users to buy and own real US stocks and ETFs directly through the platform using crypto-funded accounts.
  • Unlike tokenized stocks or derivatives, Stock+ offers ownership of actual shares, giving investors access to shareholder rights like cash dividends and voting rights.
  • The launch is part of Bitget’s broader Stocks 2.0 strategy, which aims to combine crypto, tokenized assets, and traditional financial products within a single ecosystem.

Bitget is making a bigger push into traditional finance with the launch of Stock+, a new feature that allows users to buy and own real US stocks directly using digital assets.

The move marks the latest step in the exchange’s effort to build what it calls a “Universal Exchange,” where cryptocurrencies, tokenized assets, commodities, and equities can be traded from a single account.

Stock+ enables eligible users to gain exposure to more than 10,000 US-listed stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) through licensed brokerage partners.

Unlike synthetic stock products or derivatives, the new offering provides ownership of the underlying shares, including eligibility for cash dividends, stock splits, and shareholder rights.

The launch comes as crypto exchanges increasingly seek to bridge the gap between digital assets and traditional financial markets, offering users a more integrated investment experience.

Bitget Brings Real Stock Ownership to Crypto Users

According to Bitget, users can fund their accounts with cryptocurrencies, convert holdings into USDC, and then purchase US equities directly through the platform.

The service supports fractional investing, allowing users to buy as little as 0.0001 shares, significantly lowering the barrier to entry for retail investors.

The company said orders are routed through regulated brokerage partners, including RQD Clearing and Atomic Vaults Securities, with trades executed on major US venues such as Nasdaq and the New York Stock Exchange.

“Access is important, but ownership matters too,” said Bitget CEO Gracy Chen. “Giving users access to real ownership of US-listed companies is how we actually bridge financial markets.”

In addition to stock purchases, users can transfer existing equity holdings from participating brokers into Bitget, creating a unified portfolio that combines traditional securities and digital assets under one platform.

The product also offers access to pre-market, regular trading hours, after-hours sessions, and overnight trading, while providing free Level 1 real-time market data to account holders.

Part of a Broader Stocks 2.0 Strategy

Stock+ builds on Bitget’s recently launched Stocks 2.0 initiative, which aims to expand the exchange’s presence in real-world assets (RWAs) and traditional finance.

Earlier this month, the company introduced Reality, a regulated tokenization protocol that powers its rToken product line.

Through the platform, users can already trade tokenized versions of more than 500 US stocks and ETFs, including high-profile names such as Tesla, Nvidia, and SpaceX.

Bitget says assets under management for its tokenized stock products have already surpassed $50 million.

The introduction of Stock+ adds another layer to that ecosystem by offering direct stock ownership alongside tokenized alternatives.

While rTokens provide blockchain-based exposure to equities, Stock+ gives investors actual shares held through regulated custodians.

The expansion reflects a broader trend across the crypto industry, where exchanges are increasingly looking beyond digital assets to attract users and diversify revenue streams.

Competition Heats Up in Crypto-Stock Trading

Bitget is not alone in pursuing the convergence of crypto and traditional finance.

Kraken recently expanded its stock trading offering in several markets, while Robinhood has long combined crypto and equities trading within a single app.

Other platforms, including eToro, Interactive Brokers, and Public, also offer both cryptocurrency and stock investing services, although most require separate funding rails and account structures.

Meanwhile, tokenized stock offerings have gained momentum across the industry. Exchanges and blockchain platforms, including Backed Finance, xStocks, and various RWA-focused protocols, have introduced tokenized versions of publicly traded companies, seeking to bring equity exposure on-chain.

Bitget’s approach differs by combining tokenized equities and direct stock ownership into a single ecosystem. The company argues that this dual structure gives investors greater flexibility depending on whether they prefer traditional brokerage exposure or blockchain-native assets.
