Web3 gaming has never looked so good as the ecosystem receives yet another jaw-dropping trailer, this time for a survival horror multiplayer online (MMO) game, EVE Frontier.

In addition, the recently-launched MapleStory N has become a cultural phenomenon in gaming as it draws over a million players in less than a month. Sony’s Soneium blockchain is teaming up with Astar to launch a Web3 app and gaming incubator.

Here are some of the biggest stories from Web3 gaming this week.

EVE Frontier

EVE Online’s survival horror Web3 spinoff is getting closer to launch as the team finally drops the game’s long-awaited trailer.

The trailer showcases a nightmarish space-wasteland aesthetic promised by prior marketing materials, and judging by the visuals, the game looks gorgeous.

EVE Frontier looks to offer intense combat, resource scavenging, and player-driven economies to players, wrapped up in a gritty, immersive space survival MMO.

The game implements Web3 technologies in ways never seen before.

From players being able to create and launch cryptos in-game, or develop third-party applications for a myriad of functions, EVE Frontier could be one of the most innovative gaming launches of the modern era.

EVE Frontier will launch Founders Access on June 11.

MapleStory N Transactions

Launched on May 15, 2025, MapleStory N has been a roaring success amongst gamers who are flocking to Web3’s iteration of a beloved multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) that is now more than 20 years old.

As per Avalanche, the blockchain network the game is running on, MapleStory N’s success has driven daily network transactions to skyrocket, surpassing 1 million twice in just one week.

As per the MapleStory Universe on-chain tracker, MSU Explorer , the game has attracted over 1 million players.

Following its launch, new account signups were averaging between 5,000 – 8,000 a day. However, since May 29, players have begun flocking to the game, which has averaged just over 50,000 new accounts a day since.

Consumer App Incubator

Sony’s Ethereum Layer-2, Soneium, has launched a new incubator that will focus on the accelerated development of consumer applications and gaming within its ecosystem, which presently boasts over 7 million wallets.

Aptly named “Soneium For All,” the Sony Block Solutions Labs (SBSL) is partnering with Astar Network and Startale Cloud Services to launch a dev program to develop and fast-track high-potential Web3 projects.

The incubator aims to address and overcome typical go-to-market challenges such as discoverability, user traction and retention, technical scaling, and others.

Applications opened on June 9 with a June 30, 2025, deadline for applications. Winners are slated to be announced in late July or early August, with projects launching after.

This latest push signals a call for developers and major franchises to get join up with blockchain with major anime IPs such as Solo Levelling, Seven Deadly Sins, and Ghost In The Shell on board.
