Coinbase’s ‘Secret’ Polymarket and Ondo Rival in the Making — Here’s When it Could Launch

Key Takeaways

  • Coinbase appears to be developing a Polymarket-style prediction market and a platform for tokenized stocks.
  • Researcher Jane Manchun Wong uncovered the hidden interfaces before they were removed.
  • The features align with Coinbase’s previously stated goal of building a “Super Web3 app.”

In an unexpected find that set Crypto Twitter buzzing, independent researcher Jane Manchun Wong uncovered evidence that Coinbase is quietly preparing two major additions to its platform.

A prediction market similar to Polymarket and Kalshi, and a tokenized stock trading interface reminiscent of Ondo Finance.

Wong, known for surfacing unreleased features inside apps long before they’re public, discovered the tools by reverse-engineering Coinbase’s publicly available code.

Within hours of posting her screenshots, the interfaces vanished, suggesting that the company may be gearing up for a formal unveiling.

Hidden Tabs Show “Predictions” and “Stocks”

Wong’s screenshots revealed internal Coinbase tabs labeled “Predictions” and “Stocks,” offering the clearest indication yet that the exchange is preparing to expand far beyond traditional crypto trading.

One screenshot showed legal language noting that “Prediction markets are offered by Coinbase Financial Markets through KalshiEX LLC.”

Kalshi is the only federally licensed prediction-market operator in the United States, and a link between the two companies would give Coinbase an immediate regulatory foothold in a rapidly growing market.

Other images suggested a tokenized stocks interface—an area Coinbase has discussed publicly but never shipped.

Tokenized assets, backed by U.S. treasuries, equities, or credit markets, have become one of the fastest-growing sectors in Web3.

Shortly after the findings went viral, Wong noted that Coinbase had removed public access to the backend screens.

A Strategic Move Amid Prediction-Market Boom

If Coinbase is preparing its own prediction market, the timing is logical.

Polymarket has surged this year, driven by election-year speculation and rising user engagement, while Kalshi continues to expand its reach as a regulated alternative.

A Coinbase-branded prediction market would have instant distribution, deep liquidity, and a built-in fiat on-ramp, making it a solid competitor overnight.

Similarly, tokenized stocks have become a key pillar of the real-world assets (RWA) boom, attracting billions in inflows.

Platforms like Ondo Finance, Backed, and Superstate have demonstrated what’s possible; Coinbase’s entry into the market would bring it into the U.S. mainstream.

A Glimpse of Coinbase’s “Super Web3 App” Vision

The discovery aligns with the messaging Coinbase has been teasing since mid-2025.

In July, the company told CNBC that it was working toward an “everything exchange,” a single interface where users can trade cryptocurrencies, tokenized assets, and participate in early-stage token launches.

Vice President of Product Max Branzburg said at the time that Coinbase’s long-term goal is to bring “all assets on-chain under a unified interface.”

Prediction markets and tokenized equities would be significant steps toward that vision.

All Eyes on Dec. 17

The leak also arrives weeks before Coinbase’s Dec. 17 “System Update” event, where new products and strategic updates are expected.

Whether the new features debut that day or remain in testing for now, the discovery has already reshaped expectations for Coinbase’s next act.

If launched, the company wouldn’t simply be adding new tools.

It would signal a deeper transition: from a crypto exchange to a full-spectrum Web3 financial platform, capable of competing with Polymarket, Kalshi, Ondo, Robinhood, and traditional brokerages all at once.
