While Microsoft blinked first yesterday and revealed a new console in the Series S alongside a price and release date, Sony remains, true to form, tight-lipped about its next-gen PS5 launch plans, leaving fans clutching at all and any sliver of potential information.
The latest potential sign of Sony’s plans comes from a somewhat surprising source, picked up by the ever-alert folks over on the PS5 subreddit – an Amazon UK listing for a PS5 wall mount .
Hand made by Floating Grip, the smart wall mount for PS5 promises to make mounting the console a doddle, save space, and spruce up your gaming setup. It even allows you to tilt the console away from the wall to allow for 360-degree ventilation.
More interesting in the context of the secrecy around Sony’s launch plans, the mount is currently available to pre-order for just under £20 with a planned release on Nov. 19. That date would fall rather snugly into the long-touted ‘Holiday 2020’ release window, inferring that the PS5 could launch on or around Nov. 19.
It goes without saying that this should in no way be taken as firm confirmation of the PS5’s launch date. We may be looking at nothing more than a placeholder, an educated guess to give those pre-ordering the mount an idea of when it might arrive on their doorsteps.
As for when we might hear the official word from Sony, fresh rumors indicate today is the day. The consensus is that Sony will announce the date for the next PS5 showcase, or share the price and release date outright, and reveal when pre-orders will go live.
The ball is now very much in Sony’s court, and with the launch window fast approaching, time is running out. An announcement is more or less imminent.
