Hunter Biden’s LAPTOP Memecoin Peaks Just 2 Minutes After Launch as FDV Hits $144B

Key Takeaways

  • Hunter Biden’s LAPTOP memecoin reached its peak price roughly two minutes after launching, according to Arkham.
  • Arkham displayed a fully diluted valuation of about $144 billion, while the token’s liquidity pool held only about $48,000.
  • The enormous gap demonstrates how thin liquidity can create eye-popping theoretical valuations without billions of dollars actually entering a token.
  • LAPTOP is also targeting wallets that lost money on Donald Trump’s TRUMP memecoin, which has fallen roughly 97% from its peak.

Hunter Biden’s newly launched LAPTOP memecoin briefly carried a valuation that would have placed it among the world’s largest cryptocurrencies.

There was just one problem: liquidity was around $48,000.

Blockchain analytics firm Arkham Intelligence said LAPTOP launched at approximately 8:02 p.m. and reached its peak price only two minutes later, at around 8:04 p.m.

Arkham’s dashboard subsequently displayed the token at roughly $144.96 per LAPTOP, implying a staggering $144.96 billion fully diluted valuation (FDV) against its one-billion-token supply.

Yet Arkham said the liquidity pool contained only around $48,000.

The disconnect offers a stark example of how memecoin valuations can become detached from the amount of real money backing the market.

Why LAPTOP’s $144 Billion Valuation Was a Liquidity Illusion

FDV is calculated by multiplying a token’s price by its maximum supply. It does not represent the amount investors have poured into the asset or the amount holders could collectively withdraw.

That distinction becomes critical when liquidity is thin.

A small number of trades can move the marginal token price dramatically. Applying that price to one billion tokens could yield a theoretical valuation in the billions, even though attempting to sell a meaningful portion of the supply could collapse the price.

In LAPTOP’s case, the contrast was stark: approximately $144 billion in FDV versus $48,000 in reported liquidity.

The token’s rapid peak also suggests meaningful price discovery had barely begun before the eye-catching valuation appeared.

LAPTOP’s structure adds another wrinkle. Thirty percent of its billion-token supply is allocated to founders, including Biden, subject to a six-month lockup and subsequent vesting. Another portion is reserved for liquidity and project operations.

LAPTOP Is Targeting TRUMP’s Losers

The launch is explicitly connected to another political memecoin with a history of extreme early valuations: President Donald Trump’s TRUMP.

Biden has allocated part of LAPTOP’s community airdrop to wallets that lost money trading TRUMP. The precise breakdown published this week says 2% of the LAPTOP supply is earmarked specifically for losing TRUMP holders, while other community distributions make up the rest of the airdrop allocation.

TRUMP offers a cautionary comparison.

The token surged to around $73-$75 shortly after its January 2025 launch, then fell to roughly $2 this month, a decline of about 97%. Nearly one million wallets were sitting on an estimated $3.8 billion in combined losses.

LAPTOP therefore arrives with an unusual proposition: a political memecoin partly marketed toward people who already lost money on another political memecoin.

Biden himself has warned buyers not to expect him or anyone involved with the project to make LAPTOP more valuable.

The $144 billion figure demonstrates why that warning matters.

LAPTOP did not need anything close to $144 billion in investment to reach a $144 billion FDV.

With Arkham reporting only around $48,000 in pool liquidity at the time, its opening minutes show just how little capital can sometimes sit underneath an enormous memecoin valuation.
