It’s generally accepted that media scrutiny was one of the prominent reasons Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stepped away from their royal lives and moved across the world.
Prince Harry made no secret of his feelings towards the media, especially when it comes to how they view his wife.
One royal journalist who was credentialed to fly on the same plane as Harry commented back in 2018:
Any engagement that I’m at with him, he just scowls at us. I can’t stress that clearly enough, he can’t hide his disdain. It’s just so uncomfortable. He has fury and venom in his eyes. He’s very tortured.
Former BBC royal correspondent Peter Hunt, who has interviewed Prince Harry on numerous occasions, also commented:
He always talked about his desire to be normal. He has grown increasingly into adulthood irritated with media coverage and had an almost unhealthy obsession with it, to the extent he would even read the comments beneath the articles online. He would then take up issues with the correspondents from those papers when he met them.
When you read comments like this from journalists who know Prince Harry well, you cannot fault him for wanting to step back from the spotlight.
As Harry’s wife, you would imagine that Meghan Markle would be supportive of Harry. If this were my husband, I’d be doing all I can to protect him from the media, the spotlight, and anything that causes him mental anguish.
Prince Harry has spoken publicly about the counseling he’s had throughout his life. This is a serious issue for him.
Meghan Markle herself has spoken in similar tones as Harry. They wish to avoid the spotlight; they want to raise young Archie away from the pressure of the media.
I can get on board with that. I would support them 100 percent if that’s what they were doing.
If it’s privacy the couple wants, they have the perfect location for it.
Frogmore Cottage, for those of you unaware, is anything but a cottage in the traditional sense.
A five-bedroom property that boasts an astounding 33 acres of private gardens, the cottage has played host to numerous royal wedding receptions and events.
It isn’t small.
But it is private. Incredibly private.
A source speaking to the Daily Mail commented:
Frogmore, which is inside the Windsor security zone, is secluded, peaceful, tranquil, and, most importantly, private. No one will see them coming or going.
In November of 2019, Meghan Markle quietly invited former U.S. First Lady Hillary Clinton to visit. Mrs. Clinton got the chance to spend the day with Meghan, and even spend time with baby Archie.
The British media didn’t even know about the visit until after the fact.
If Meghan Markle were really interested in her husband’s mental issues, why not live full-time at Frogmore? It’s been reported that Prince Harry likes it there.
But no, that won’t work.
Meghan Markle isn’t interested in being out of the limelight. She wants to be the center of attention, and she needs Harry with her to provide the X-factor that will win her Hollywood roles.
The truth is, Prince Harry’s desires matter not a jot.
His mental health is affected by the media? Let’s take him to Los Angeles, where the paparazzi never sleeps, and where media outlets enjoy far more relaxed rules and regulations than they do in the UK.
It’s true what they say. What Meghan wants, Meghan gets.
And no one else matters.
