The crypto job market in 2025 is buzzing with energy again. After a period of uncertainty, confidence seems to be returning, and companies across the industry are hiring at a faster pace.
To understand where the demand is strongest, CCN spoke with Owen Healy, a seasoned Web3 recruiter who’s been at the forefront of cryptocurrency hiring trends.
“Even August, which is usually quiet, has been unusually busy, definitely a bullish sign for the months ahead,” Healy told CCN. His perspective provides a roadmap for both seasoned professionals and newcomers looking to break into the industry.

When asked about the hottest roles right now, Healy didn’t hesitate.
“There’s definitely strong demand for developers, particularly Solidity and Rust developers,” he said. “Security roles are also in very high demand, as well as engineers working at the intersection of blockchain and AI. I believe that’s going to be one of the dominant narratives in this cycle.”
Alongside these technical roles, Healy pointed to business-side functions that remain critical:
That’s nine distinct roles seeing strong demand right now. As Healy noted, the mix of technical and non-technical needs reflects the maturing of the industry—projects need builders, but also storytellers and connectors.
For those eager to land their first crypto role, Healy emphasized adaptability and proof of passion.
“It really depends on your skill set. If you’re a marketer, start by learning the basics of Web3 marketing and culture. Get involved in crypto communities, maybe contribute pro bono to projects, and network with others in the industry,” Healy emphasized.
On the developer side, he highlighted Solana’s rapid growth:
“Solana in particular has been onboarding new talent at record levels—more in the last two months than in all of last year, according to the foundation. That shows how much demand there is.”
Whether through online courses, side projects, or volunteer work, building credibility is crucial. “Networking is critical; most jobs in crypto are still filled through word of mouth,” Healy said.
The crypto space continues to evolve in surprising directions. Healy shared one example that caught his attention:
“One interesting example was Avalanche recently hiring for an M&A (Mergers and Acquisitions) lead. That’s not something you would’ve seen much in crypto a few years ago, but it reflects the growing trend of consolidation in the industry.”
At the same time, the biggest wave of new demand is for AI engineers. As Healy explained, “That’s where a lot of VC money is flowing right now.”
In a competitive market, passion and initiative often make the difference.
“Proof of genuine interest in crypto is key,” Healy stressed.
For example:
For marketing roles, he says your online presence is almost your résumé: “Your timeline is almost like your résumé. Show that you’re engaged in the community, add meaningful insights, and build credibility within a specific ecosystem.”
For developers, hackathons remain one of the best entry points: “Even if you don’t win, you’ll meet people, build your portfolio, and expand your network.
No conversation about the future of work in 2025 is complete without AI. While some fear layoffs, Healy sees a more nuanced picture:
“AI definitely makes people more productive, but it also carries risks. Across all industries, we’re already seeing what some call the ‘great flattening,’ where middle management roles are being reduced, and new graduates are finding it harder to break into big companies.”
But in crypto, the intersection of blockchain and AI may unlock entirely new opportunities:
“The big unknown is how AI will impact security. For example, AI-driven attacks could have massive repercussions. That said, I firmly believe the next big narrative will be blockchain + AI. That’s where innovation is heading, and that’s where investment is flowing,” Healy noted.
The crypto hiring landscape in 2025 revolves around nine high-demand roles, led by developers, security engineers, and blockchain + AI specialists, with strong support demand for marketing, content, and community-focused talent. New, unexpected positions like M&A leads and Crypto Twitter Leads reflect how quickly the industry is maturing.
For candidates, the differentiator isn’t just skills on paper, it’s demonstrated initiative, contributions to projects, and authentic engagement in the Web3 community.
As Healy put it best: “Employers want to see initiative and commitment, not just interest on paper.”
