War of Nova, a new sci-fi Web3 mobile strategy game, has made an impressive debut, generating nearly $500,000 in revenue within just 60 hours of its launch.
Developed by Revolving Games, the team has previously emphasised a “fun-first, Web3-second” approach to game development—a philosophy that appears to be resonating with early players.
According to data from Revolving Games Co-Founder and Co-CEO Ammar Zaeem, more than 35% of in-app purchases came from traditional payment platforms, including Google, Apple, and Stripe.
Launched on May 8, War of Nova attracted 8,169 players and recorded 9,819 transactions in its first 60 hours, according to Zaeem.
While 62% of revenue came from Web3 sources, such as crypto wallets, a significant portion originated from traditional payment methods:
By the 48-hour mark, the game had already earned $300,000 in revenue, even with intermittent server maintenance.
Zaeem highlighted the strong hourly revenue growth as a sign of positive player engagement.
“Hourly growth is a strong metric, as the game is generating a deeper sense of competition, fun, and new friendships through Guilds,” he said.
He emphasized that the spending patterns suggest users are engaged with the gameplay itself, not merely acting on hype or fear of missing out.
Previously known as Project Nova, War of Nova was released in early access in October 2024, with an initial $25,000 competitive prize pool.
Players now have the opportunity to earn $RCADE tokens through gameplay, ahead of the token generation event (TGE) scheduled for May 22.
Top players can compete for a share of up to 250 million $RCADE tokens, which they can earn by excelling at in-game systems like resource collection and ship capture.
According to the game’s website, War of Nova blends “deep strategy with intuitive gameplay,” rewarding both long-term planning and tactical decision-making.
“You’ll explore, expand, exploit, and exterminate your way across the galaxy—building outposts, managing resources, commanding fleets, and clashing with rival forces for dominance,” the site explains.
The early success of War of Nova stands out against the backdrop of a struggling Web3 gaming sector.
A recent DappRadar report from April 2025 revealed that investment in Web3 gaming fell sharply. Just $91 million was raised in Q1 2025, marking a 71% drop compared to Q1 2024.
User activity also reportedly declined by 6% quarter over quarter.
Despite these headwinds, War of Nova joins a handful of Web3 games proving that a strong gameplay loop and hybrid monetization models can still attract players.
