Key Takeaways
  • Fortnite’s Star Wars event, launching May 2, introduces a major in-game crossover with a five-part adventure and multiple new character skins.
  • Epic Games and Disney are launching a deeper digital integration by allowing Fortnite players to link their Disney+ and Epic accounts.
  • The two companies are building a metaverse where gamers can watch, shop, and play in one place.

Starting May 2, Fortnite is launching a major collaboration with Star Wars, further expanding its Disney metaverse.

In an effort to deepen the integration between Disney and Fortnite, players are encouraged to link their Disney+ and Epic Games accounts.

Doing so will unlock exclusive in-game rewards and is being viewed as a first step toward a broader shared digital universe.

New Star Wars Skins in Fortnite

Fortnite is well known for its vast library of character skins, from pop culture icons like Family Guy’s Peter Griffin to real-world celebrities like Sabrina Carpenter.

Beginning with the launch of Galactic Battle on May 2, players can take part in a five-part Star Wars adventure and access a lineup of new character skins.

While some characters are being kept under wraps until the event goes live, several have already been revealed:

  • Darth Jar Jar
  • Emperor Palpatine
  • Mace Windu
  • Captain Phasma
  • Customizable Mandalorian
  • Sith and Jedi versions of Evie
  • Wookiee Team Leader
  • General Grievous
  • Poe Dameron
  • Additional unannounced characters

Based on some early fan votes, Darth Jar Jar has emerged as the most highly anticipated skin.

How To Unlock Skins: Linking Accounts

Starting April 29, players can link their Epic Games and MyDisney accounts.

Doing so will grant access to an exclusive First Order Stormtrooper outfit, with more benefits expected to roll out in the future.

Sean Shoptaw, Executive Vice President, Disney Games & Digital Entertainment said the launch was “our largest Star Wars collaboration with Fortnite to date – giving fans and players an exciting first look at the kinds of experiences they can expect as we shape a new future together.”

This collaboration follows the announcement of a multi-billion-dollar partnership between Epic Games and Disney in 2024.
