July’s Crypto Hacks up 27.2% From Previous Month

Compared to June, the total losses from crypto hacks tracked by PeckShield increased by 27.2% in July.

July had the fourth-highest monthly losses in 2025 so far. The worst month of the year was February, when the $1.2 billion Bybit hack pushed the monthly total to $1.53 billion.

In the CoinDCX hack, an attacker drained a total of 4,443 ETH and 155,830 SOL, with a combined value of approximately $44.2 million.

Prior to that, GMX was exploited to the tune of $42 million. The hacker ultimately returned more than 90% of the initial value of the stolen funds, but still netted themselves a tidy profit from a rise in the price of ETH.

In the third largest breach, BigOne’s hot wallet was compromised, resulting in the loss of $27 million in crypto assets.
