Key Takeaways
  • Bombie has attracted over 9 million players since launching in August 2024.
  • A new game in the Bombie ecosystem, CapyBomb, has been announced.
  • BOMB is reported to have a token supply of 10 billion.

Excitement is building around the upcoming Bombie token airdrop, with the team teasing May 20, 2025, as the likely date.

However, despite the anticipation, frustration is growing within the community, as the lack of clear details leaves many feeling uncertain.

Incoming

After hinting that some big news would arrive on May 1, the team delivered in true Bombie style with a vague, but hopeful post to X.

However, the team’s marketing approach, which is ambiguous at best, has drawn ire from the community, who have described the lack of information as “vague” and “shameless.

After months of deafening radio silence and the occasional tease of “things to come,” the community is growing fatigued.

Concerns are mounting that the BOMB airdrop may follow the all-too-familiar pattern seen in play-to-earn (P2E) games, starting with an ever-shifting token-generation event (TGE) date and ending with last-minute changes to token allocations, as seen in Catizen and Hamster Kombat.

For now, May 20 will likely be the date for one of the most anticipated Web3 gaming airdrops.

The Bombie Airdrop

While details have been mostly sparse, the total supply of the BOMB token has been confirmed at 10 billion, according to X user Clytheronix, who attended the TON Society talk with the Bombie team on X Spaces.

Interestingly, the token’s distribution plan will differ slightly from Hamster Kombat’s. Instead of the usual approach, Bombie will allocate airdrop tokens based on players’ in-game holdings and their spending, likely in the form of Telegram stars.

Additionally, the team has teased the release of CapyBomb, a new game within Bombie’s expanding GameFi ecosystem.

While details are still scarce, CapyBomb appears to incorporate decentralized finance (DeFi) elements, though its gameplay features remain under wraps for now.

The Road to BOMB

The BOMB airdrop has been marred with confusion as the team has been painfully quiet about the token, until now. It has also employed an odd but interesting marketing strategy, as demonstrated by its “official” expansion into “anime.”

It also intends to move into film and music. However, judging from the community’s response, no one cares. They just want the airdrop.

There are concerns that there will be last-minute tweaks, as was the case with Telegram’s 2024 Web3 gaming stars, Hamster Kombat and Catizen.

Catizen’s Web3 Ecosystem

Bombie launched as the next major airdrop title in the Catizen gaming ecosystem, predating Cattea.

It launched in August 2024 and has since attracted over 9 million players, according to the Catizen APP Center.

The team claims this figure is above 10 million, which is likely, as Bombie is also available on the LINE messaging app and the Kaia ecosystem.

Mahjong-inspired Cattea is the ecosystem’s third airdrop offering, and according to its Telegram bot, it garners almost 1 million monthly users.

Over a dozen other gaming titles are also available in the Catizen APP Center, and they are attracting decent numbers.

However, these are still nowhere near the tens of millions enticed by the airdrop offerings of its three flagship titles, Catizen, Bombie, and Cattea.
