Okx and Manchester City, the current champions of English football, have teamed up .
They are launching a line of commemorative football shirts, available as non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
These “Unseen City Shirts ” will be available for digital minting between April 22 and 25.
Known as “The Roses and The Bees,” these collectibles will feature three levels of rarity: classic, rare, and ultra-rare.
In addition to owning a digital piece of Manchester City’s legacy, fans who participate in minting these NFTs also stand a chance to win real-world rewards. These include actual Manchester City football shirts, tickets to matches, and a special experience to play on the Manchester City pitch, enhancing the appeal of the digital collectibles.
Haider Rafique, the Chief Marketing Officer at Okx, described on this latest initiative as a high point in the ongoing collaboration between the exchange and the football club.
He said :
“As an Official partner of Manchester City since 2022, we want to capture the imagination and incite the passions of the Club’s global fans, many of whom are curious about the value that Web3 can bring to their lives. The ‘Unseen City Shirts’ campaign allows us to engage them in an authentic way that is true to Okx’s values, taking something familiar and reimagining it with the help of creativity, technology and innovation.”
Nuria Tarré, the Chief Marketing Officer of Manchester City, discussed the football club’s strategy to use the metaverse and Web3 technologies to boost engagement with its fanbase.
She highlighted the techology’s integration as part of the club’s broader technological strategy. Tarré also emphasized the importance of their collaboration with the cryptocurrency exchange. She went on to say that it allowed the club to “continue to deliver unique, creative, and innovative activations”.
In July 2022, the partnership between Okx and Manchester City took a step forward when Okx was named the club’s official training kit partner for the 2022-23 season.
This followed an earlier agreement in June of2021, where Okx became the team’s official sleeve partner.
