Key Takeaways
  • Axie Infinity has a very active player base, recording over 30,00 live players in the past 24 hours and over 200,000 in the past 30 days.
  • 2,933 Axies have been sold over the past 24 hours for a total volume of 19.341 ETH.
  • Axie Infinity MMO RPG “Atia’s Legacy” is scheduled for playtesting this summer.

Axie Infinity, 2018’s pioneering Web3 game from Sky Mavis, has decided to shut down one of its experimental projects in favor of a newly announced Massively-Multiplayer Online (MMO) role-playing game (RPG), Atia’s Legacy.

Project T Closes

As per the latest post from Axie Infinity, an experimental initiative by the name of Project T has been shut down, as the team shifts focus to its upcoming Axie MMO RPG, Atia’s Legacy.

Project T set out to make Axie Infinity a more social experience where users could gather in a virtual space, showcase their Axie NFTs and engage in a variety of mini-games together.

It was initially rolled out to a select group of players, namely Mystic Axie owners, landowners, as well as the top 100 players across Seasons 1 to 4 of Axie Infinity: Origin, and owners of Origin Axies.

“The prototype has given us valuable insights into what our community wants, and the time has come to leverage these learnings through a larger effort. The Project T servers are now offline, and this change will be permanent.”

Axie Infinity: Atia’s Legacy

On March 6, 2025, Axie Infinity announced Atia’s Legacy, the first MMO experience from the team.

Now, it’s going in the direction of World of Warcraft and Runescape.

Players can create their in-game character and have their Axies follow them around a gigantic, fully 3D online world full of quests, NPCs and mini-games. They’ll also be engaging in some awesome-looking real-time squad-based combat with enemies and other players.

It’s a giant leap forward for a game that started as a Pokémon-like game. For some time, Axies were NFTs that you could collect, battle, breed and take on simplistic quests through two-dimensional environments.

Playtesting is slated for Summer 2025, and a full launch could happen as early as 2026.
