Key Takeaways
Since his return to social, Keith Gill, aka Roaring Kitty, has reignited interest in GameStop (GME), triggering a significant uptick in the company’s share price and provoking the ire of Morgan Stanley’s trading platform, E*Trade. Not bad for a month’s work. But he’s not done yet.
On Friday, June 7, the Roaring Kitty YouTube channel has a scheduled livestream that is expected to be Gill’s first public appearance since 2021. News of the event caused GameStop stock to surge by more than 30% on Thursday, and given his record, there could be more fireworks on the horizon.
The last video posted on the Roaring Kitty YouTube channel was a GameStop analysis Gill shared more than 3 years ago.
But in the first sign of the dormant account’s reactivation, a livestream is now scheduled to start at at 12 p.m. ET on Friday, June 7.
The video’s description features Gill’s standard disclaimer. But other than that, there are few clues as to what he might discuss.
Since plans for the livestream were revealed it has been liked more than 35,000 times and there are already over 12,000 viewers waiting for things to kick off.
Gill is known as the mastermind of the 2021 GameStop short squeeze and he previously used YouTube to share analysis of the stock that helped mobilize his army of fans to buy it en masse.
Even the mere announcement of the livestream has instigated a near-40% uptick in the company’s share price and the video’s comment feed is awash with speculation that GME could soar even further.
Screenshots posted by Gill’s Reddit handle last week showed him in possession of 5 million shares with an option to buy another 120,000.
But there is no guarantee the unpredictable trader will comment on the stock he is famously associated with
While Gill did post a string of GME analyses in 2020 and 2021, Roaring Kitty livestreams have typically been more general, educational events.
In a typical stream, Gill discusses his trading strategy and walks viewers through the different research and analysis methods he uses.
Past streams have lasted for around 3 hours. In each one, Gill covered a variety of stocks, offering tips and advice for other traders.
