In a recent post on the X platform , the co-founder of Ethereum voiced his support for the Layer-2 network Optimism, applauding its efforts to standardize asset transfers within the Ethereum ecosystem.

Buterin commended Optimism for its development of REMOTESTATICCALL  and discussed future initiatives such as standardizing on-chain specific addresses, implementing ERC-3668  light clients, and establishing on-chain specific ENS.

Blockchain Adopts Pluralistic Governance: ETH and ADA Lead the Way

Buterin believes that the decentralized structure of blockchain technology makes it an ideal candidate for his proposed pluralistic approach, promoting greater autonomy and cooperation while minimizing community divisions.

Buterin envisions applying the concept of Plurality in real time across various sectors to combat issues such as collusion and competitive pressures within the blockchain community.

His broader vision for blockchain technology involves creating a hub where diverse stakeholders can collaborate without the risk of centralization.

The Ethereum ecosystem is actively enhancing its governance structures to align with Buterin’s pluralistic vision.

Meanwhile, Cardano, another major blockchain entity, is advancing its governance through the upcoming Chang Hard Fork upgrade, which aims to increase scalability and further decentralize governance.

The Cardano community is close to fully implementing the Chang Hard Fork, with the official date set for Aug. 27.

Additionally, Cardano has introduced an update to the Hydra Head scaling solution, reflecting the blockchain community’s commitment to improving governance.

Leading platforms like Ethereum and Cardano adopting these pluralistic governance models sets a trend within the blockchain community, potentially reshaping the entire cryptocurrency ecosystem in accordance with Buterin’s pluralistic ideology.

‘Plurality’ Authors on Tech’s Potential to Transform Crypto and Democracy

CCN recently spoke with Glen Weyl and Audrey Tang, who, together with Vitalik Buterin, introduced their new book, Plurality: the future of collaborative technology and democracy .

Weyl then stressed that to ensure the crypto sector’s success, it is crucial to confront and alleviate the trust issues stemming from negative dynamics within the industry.

By making this shift, the sector could cultivate a more engaged and dedicated user base, which would positively influence the overall growth and perceived legitimacy of the cryptocurrency space.

On the other hand, Tang’s initiatives also included championing digital democracy, where digital platforms played a crucial role in actively involving the public, particularly young people, in democratic processes.

This effort has gained international recognition, establishing Taiwan as a frontrunner in digital democracy and civic engagement.

She told CCN that she believes people below 18 years old  are the primary beneficiaries of this technology.

Tang told CCN:

“In terms of civics and the participation in democracy, Taiwan is top one in the world according to iccs, because people who are 15 years old or 14 years old, they feel they are already an active part of democracy. They can start very effective electronic petitions.

If they get 5000 signatures online, they can force a ministerial response. They can affect real change, like banning plastic straws from bubble tea takeouts for ecological reasons. So instead of taking a break from classrooms on Fridays or something, they can use their Fridays in classrooms.”

Buterin claims that in Audrey’s vision, there remains an element of choice and the possibility of exit, but there is a much more efficient feedback loop. This loop ensures that the enhancements resulting from these micro-exits are quickly integrated back into the mainstream societal infrastructure.
