  • Hoskinson questions the foundation’s formation, leadership, and alignment with the Cardano ecosystem’s principles.
  • The Cardano Foundation has denied Hoskinson’s accusations, asserting its commitment to the community-approved constitution.

Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano, has escalated his ongoing feud with the Cardano Foundation (CF), publicly voicing dissatisfaction with its leadership and governance practices.

Despite a clarifying statement from the CF, Hoskinson remains adamant in his criticism, particularly regarding the foundation’s handling of the Cardano constitution and budget.

Hoskinson and Cardano Foundation Clash

In a recent discussion on X , Hoskinson claimed that CF leadership plans to reject the delegate-endorsed constitution, a claim the foundation swiftly denied.

Hoskinson’s accusations extended beyond the constitution, questioning the CF’s legitimacy and the alignment of its leadership with the broader Cardano ecosystem.

Hoskinson did not mince words in his criticism of the CF, calling it “the biggest anomaly” in the Cardano ecosystem.

He questioned the foundation’s origins, alleging that it had been improperly formed and failed to fulfill its original governance role.

According to Hoskinson, the foundation had not met the expectations set for it and had misaligned itself with the needs of the community.

“We had an understanding that the CF would take care of governance functions and become a community-driven organization,” Hoskinson said.

“From the very beginning, there were problems in the relationship. Basic things that we needed to get done were not getting done, and it became clear that their principles did not align with what the ecosystem wanted.”

He also raised concerns about the CF’s leadership, criticizing its ties to Switzerland and its unelected, government-appointed board members.

Hoskinson suggested that these individuals were poised to vote against the community-endorsed constitution and the proposed budget, intensifying his accusations of mismanagement.

Cardano Foundation Responds to Hoskinson’s Criticism

In response, Nicolas Cerny, the governance lead at the Cardano Foundation, dismissed Hoskinson’s allegations, particularly those concerning the constitution.

Cerny assured the community that the CF had no intention of opposing the delegate-endorsed constitution, addressing what he described as Hoskinson’s “speculation.”

The governance lead also clarified the CF’s involvement in the budget process, emphasizing that the foundation has an active role in the budget committee.

Cerny, alongside community-elected members and representatives from IOG and EMURGO, serves on the committee to ensure a collaborative approach to the budget.

“I’m confident that if we continue collaborating, we can also reach a Cardano Budget proposal that we as a community can proudly stand behind,” Cerny said.

Looking Toward a New Era of Governance

While Hoskinson expressed relief over the clarification, he reiterated his frustration with the public airing of the dispute on social media.

He acknowledged that, despite the tensions, the foundation’s response to his concerns had been constructive, and he hoped for a more unified approach in the future.

“Unfortunately, this feud spilled over onto X, but that’s where we are at,” Hoskinson said. “I’m looking forward to the new era of governance in 2025 and wish you well.”

As the Cardano community moves forward, the future of its governance and budget decisions will likely remain a focal point of debate, with Hoskinson’s public criticisms highlighting ongoing tensions within the ecosystem.
