Key Takeaways
Over the last week, memecoins have performed pretty well, with the entire sector rising by around 10%.
However, some tokens have far exceeded this rise in the last seven days. Let’s take a look at some of the best-performing memecoins this week.
Billion Dollar Cat is a Bitcoin Rune that promises to be “the first cat Bitcoin Rune to reach $1 Billion Market Cap.”
While it is quite some way from that target, with a market cap of around $89 million, it has been on an upturn since Sept. 11, when it bottomed out at an all-time low of $0.004171.
Over the last month, the token, which came out in June this year, has risen more than 2,000% to around $0.0897 on Oct. 11. In the last seven days alone, BDC has gone up nearly 160%, spurred by listings on such exchanges as coin.ph .
The SPX6900 memecoin came out in 2023 but has enjoyed notable growth over the last month. Claiming, without any real evidence, to “contain the entire stock market,” the Solana–based token climbed 6,828% from a low of $0.009881 on Sept. 11 to an all-time high of $0.6846 on Oct. 10 after a listing on the MEXC exchange .
Although it has dropped from that peak to $0.546 on Oct. 11, it is still up by 138% over the last seven days.
The largest of a string of memecoins with the NEIRO ticker, First Neiro On Ethereum has been one of the sector’s biggest success stories over the last month or so. A series of exchange listings have propelled the token into the top 100 cryptos by market cap.
On Oct. 9, 2024, NEIRO reached an all-time high of $0.001937. While it has fallen since then, its Oct. 11 price of $0.00158 meant it had climbed 67% over the course of a week.
The OKX exchange listed Solana–based memecoin POPCAT in early September 2024. Since then, the token has experienced a significant upturn, peaking at an all-time high of $1.48 on Oct. 7.
Although there has been a, perhaps inevitable, downturn after that, the token still registers a Relative Strength Index in the 60s, indicating healthily bullish sentiment, and, with its price around $1.30 on Oct. 11, it has scored a 26% increase over the last week.
Dogwifhat is another Solana–based memecoin that peaked on Oct. 7. Although its $2.79 score that day only represented a local high – it reached its all-time high, $4.85, in March this year – a combination of favorable market conditions and a listing on the Newton exchange meant that its Oct. 11 price of $2.50 meant WIF rose 15% over the course of seven days.
