Ruff and Shanghai Dianke Intelligence System Co., Ltd. (SEISYS) have entered into a formal partnership that will focus on the IoT (Internet of Things) data acquisition. The two parties will be jointly researching and developing smart hardware based on NB-IoT (Narrow Band – Internet of Things). These devices will be used to intelligently transport and fulfil SEISYS’s business requirements of data acquisition from transport devices. They will also assist clients in connecting data acquisition and communications protocols on the IoT platform layer.

The key points of this partnership are the application of NB-IoT Communications Protocol on the IoT device layer, which substantially enhances secure transmission and optimizes the costs and flexibility of data acquisitions. The smart gateway under the NB-IoT Communications Protocol will be equipped with sufficient interface configuration options, which will reduce the setup difficulty considerably as well as the time needed to deploy. It enables clients to implement intelligent, cloud-based remote operations and troubleshoot IoT devices through the supplied RUFF OS, including a JavaScript-based framework, edge computing, and OTA (over the air) tools. The follow-up device reconstruction only requires simple software upgrades, which lowers the upgrade costs of smart IoT devices.

Historically, there have been a wide range of devices that focused on intelligent transportation of data, complete with inconsistent protocol standards from all types of manufacturers. Ruff intends to work towards a set of uniform and secure intelligent transport standards, which are compatible with existing protocol standards and deployed through software upgrades without altering hardware.

Shanghai Dianke Intelligence System Co., Ltd. is a leading solution provider and system integrator in the field of intelligent systems. Formerly known as the Automation Sub-branch of Shanghai Electrical Apparatus Research Institute, SEISYS transitioned into intelligent transport and smart municipal services in the early 1990s, and carried out a successful restructuring in line with the Modern Enterprise System. After years of development, SEISYS is expanding its business to smart traffic management, smart highways, smart public transportation, and smart municipal service. They are also focusing on R&D and applications of big data in transportation, reaching nearly 30 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities nationwide.
