newegg bitcoinNewegg  is celebrating Bitcoin Black Friday  with special Newegg Bitcoin only deals which highlight Bitcoin’s superiority as a medium of exchange. Since starting to accept Bitcoin in the summer of 2014, Newegg has quickly warmed up to the Bitcoin community. Back in July, Newegg offered 10% off to users paying in Bitcoin for an entire week.

Later, in September, Newegg briefly offered 30% off to Canadian Bitcoiners with the launch of their Bitcoin acceptance at Newegg.ca. Newegg has also previously trialed a Bitcoin-only deal on a specific, high-demand item. In August, Newegg sold the popular Sony PS4 for $320 if paid in Bitcoin, a price that is still competitive today. The deal was well received by the deal hunting community on forums such as Slickdeals  and Fatwallet.

Enough on the history of exclusive Bitcoin Deals; On to Newegg’s Bitcoin Deals range from an additional ~6% off to a whopping 25% off just for using Bitcoin. The savings are being felt by both the merchant and the consumer as Newegg will see fewer chargebacks and fraud cases with their Bitcoin deals. Hopefully, Bitcoin Black Friday will remind the world that Bitcoin isn’t just used for Silk Road; instead, Bitcoin only deals show the potential benefits of using Bitcoin, a more efficient system. In contrast, Newegg is also running a $25 off $200 promotion for virgin Visa.me users, which equates to %12.5 off at best, which is completely subsidized by Visa. Newegg’s offering of Bitcoin only deals shows exactly how far Bitcoin has come in terms of mainstream adoption since even one year ago. The difference in media and merchant acceptance of Bitcoin is breathtaking, and the development of the Bitcoin ecosystem has certainly had successes, but the journey is far from over. Just one observer’s prediction: Eventually, Bitcoin Black Friday, an international event, will transcend the popularity of normal Black Friday, an American event.
