Nas, one of the most popular and prolific rappers of all time, has taken his Bitcoin promotion to the next level. Just a few hours ago, Nas posted  to his millions of Facebook followers that he was opening up a theraptest.com contest and would be awarding bitcoin to the top 100 scores. In the past, Nas has also invested in up and coming services such as Lyft and Fancy. Elsewhere in the hip hop world, fellow NYC rapper 50 Cent also accepts Bitcoin.

Speaking with CoinDesk  in an interview earlier this year, Nasir Jones (Nas) revealed that he is actually one of the investors behind Coinbase:

[Bitcoin] will evolve into an industry as big, if not bigger, than the Internet. My man Ben Horowitz really opened my eyes to that point. This isn’t of the Internet age, bitcoin is its own age.

Nas Bitcoin Rap Test

Now, Nas has partnered with Coinbase to give Bitcoin to Nas’s top 100 fans. There are hundreds of thousands of Nas fans around the world, so to choose who is worthy of Nas’s bitcoins, a test must be administered. Unfortunately, there is no word on how much bitcoin will be given away by Nas.

Theraptest.com is a place for rap aficionados to test their knowledge of their favorite rap artists’ songs by listening to clips and identifying the song names. The sooner you get it, the more points you get. While it is possible to search up the lyrics that you hear and “cheat,” it is incredibly hard to do so in the allotted ~15 seconds. Rap test takers have to complete ten levels before submitting their final score. Be warned, the songs get more and more obscure as you advance.

50 Cent Accepts Bitcoin Too

More recently, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, spoke with Seth Meyers  on a variety of topics, notably 50 Cent’s acceptance of Bitcoin for his latest album, Animal Ambition. When asked to expand on why he accepted Bitcoin, Jackson stated simply:

All money is money.

When asked about his acceptance of Bitcoin during a Reddit AMA  for the promotion of his new album, Jackson expanded on his decision to use BitPay:

Stay with times. technology is what’s changing the business gotta get with it. I take money no matter if its coins or dollars.
