Face Masks Are Useless Against America’s Biggest COVID-19 Threat

  • The United States’ face mask dilemma is becoming outrageous.
  • The CDC just contradicted earlier guidance by recommending all Americans wear face masks. Other countries are upset with the U.S. for outbidding them and halting deliveries of gear.
  • While the U.S. may secure more face masks than other countries, we’re still overexposed to our careless leaders.

The face mask saga in the United States is reaching absurd proportions. The U.S. is accused of blocking face mask exports to other countries.  States are receiving face masks from the national stockpile that are ten years expired and rotted. Jared Kushner recently contradicted information printed on the website of the Strategic National Stockpile, who then edited their website.

The entire situation around protective gear in the U.S. is an utter disaster. So tell me, how exactly will a face mask protect you from such incompetent leadership?

Donald Trump’s ‘Wild West’ Tactics Are Creating Terrible Karma For the Country

Donald Trump has stalled, disputed, and delayed his coronavirus response, and the country is paying the price. The U.S. now has more coronavirus infections than any other country in the world  at 273,880. That’s more than double the total of the second-hardest-hit country, Italy.

The Trump administration is getting desperate. They’ve started outbidding other countries to secure face mask contracts with China. German officials accused the U.S. of using ‘Wild West methods’  by halting the delivery of over 200,000 face masks to German police.

A Department of Homeland Security official told Reuters that they wouldn’t stop securing protective gear “until we have way too much.”  French officials say they’ve been outbid as other countries “were prepared to pay three times the market price.” The U.S. is even suspected of cutting off medical supplies to Canada.

While this may be beneficial to the U.S. in the short-term, it could come back to haunt us. What if one of these countries like Germany or France, invents a coronavirus vaccine or finds a breakthrough in treatment? What if a company in one of these countries finds a way to mass-produce ventilators quickly? They may be slow to share their secrets with the country that left them in the dust when they needed help.

The U.S. Is Desperate For Face Masks Because They’ve Mishandled Their Own

The U.S. just can’t seem to get their stories straight. First, the CDC said that face masks weren’t helpful against coronavirus. A few days ago, they said they were reconsidering.  After leaders from other countries strongly recommended everyone wear face masks, the CDC finally recommended widespread use today.

Great job, guys, we’re only 273,880 coronavirus cases deep before you recommend common sense protective measures to the American public. It’s another case of delayed action that will likely cost thousands of Americans their lives.

Yesterday, in another baffling display of incompetence, White House senior adviser Jared Kushner said:

The notion of the federal stockpile was it’s supposed to be our stockpile; it’s not supposed to be state stockpiles that they then use.

This information clearly contradicted the Strategic National Stockpile’s website.  They’ve since edited the site.

It might not matter. As it turns out, the national stockpile is somewhat compromised. Alabama officials say that almost 6,000 masks they received from the national stockpile were ruined from dry rot.  The masks expired in 2010.

Meanwhile, Los Angeles received 170 broken ventilators from the national stockpile earlier this week.

States have begun bidding against each other for protective gear. The situation is a mess. The problems at the state-level can be traced back to the incompetence at the federal level. And our ‘leader,’ Donald Trump, is a poster boy for the moronic behavior that’s gotten us here. Unfortunately, no face mask can protect us against him.
