Bots dominate the internet, accounting for around 50% of total online traffic. While they’re useful for gathering information and scanning websites, the prevalence of bots and fake accounts negatively affects the online experience, particularly on human-centric platforms like social media and dating sites.
However, World, an innovative network that puts humans first, presents a solution. The project has developed a new blockchain designed specifically for real people, a Proof-of-Human anonymous ID system, and an app that offers convenient access to the World Network.
World has just launched MiniKit 2.0, a powerful World Chain upgrade that introduces faster transactions, gas fee sponsorship, and new funding opportunities for builders. Moreover, the upgrade standardizes development across the Web3 and World App environments, streamlining the deployment of web apps on World Chain.
Sam Altman (OpenAI CEO), Alex Blania (Tools for Humanity CEO), and Max Novendstern founded World (formerly WorldCoin), intending to create the largest and most inclusive network of real humans.
To achieve its goal, World has developed several unique tools designed to generate value and verify the authenticity of human participation:
World’s products combine to form a unique, human-centric ecosystem that has the potential to disrupt the modern internet and alter the course of Web3 development. While the project’s product stack can take a few minutes to understand, it makes a welcome change to networks focused on automation and AI.
The release of MinKit 2.0 has introduced several upgrades that enhance convenience for users and developers alike.
Aligning with the Ethereum EIP-1193 standard, MiniKit 2.0 enables World Chain developers to build their applications once and deploy them across both the web and the World App with as few as two lines of code, slashing development costs and accelerating time-to-market.
MiniKit 2.0 also introduces support for additional stablecoin payment options within Mini Apps. Users can now pay via wrapped local currency tokens, including EURC, wARS, wCOP, wMXN, wBRL, wPEN, and wCLP, amongst others. As such, developers can accept local payment options, enhancing accessibility/participation as well as user convenience.
The MiniKit 2.0 upgrade is already live, enabling developers to capitalize on the growing ecosystem and foster engagement with real humans.
World is already seeing success. It recorded over 12.1 million Mini App opens across the past seven days and more than 2.2 billion across its lifetime.
With the MiniKit 2.0 upgrade making it far easier to integrate existing web applications into World Chain, we could see an influx of Mini App releases as developers rush to capitalize on the network’s rapid growth, which would translate into more users and Mini App opens in the future.
World is also working to streamline the onboarding process for first-time users. Developers can sponsor gas, covering transaction fees for users, eliminating the need for manual fee handling, which is a significant hurdle for those new to crypto.
While we’ll have to wait and see exactly how the MiniKit 2.0 upgrade fosters Mini App development and whether it attracts new users, the future is looking bright for World.
