WBT Hits An All-Time-High as Exchange Tokens Gain a Broader Role in Crypto

WhiteBIT Coin (WBT) is trading around $72.7 after setting a new all-time high, moving above the $64.11 record it reached in December 2025. The move comes shortly after the token marked four years since launch and as exchange-linked assets take on more functions beyond trading discounts.

WBT is now among the world’s top 10 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization, according to data. The same figures show a 28.3% gain over the previous 12 months.

The price milestone is notable on its own, but the more interesting question is what sits underneath it.

Exchange Tokens Are Becoming More Useful

The exchange-token category has changed considerably since the first major platforms began issuing their own assets.

WBT offers one example. Its uses include reduced trading fees, referral benefits, staking and reward opportunities, and access to Launchpad activities. It also has a role outside the exchange itself: WBT is the native gas token for Whitechain.

That distinction matters. A token with several functions can have a different market profile from one whose main use is trading.

WhiteBIT coin’s four-year history also includes a significant expansion in market access. In March, it was added to Kraken with WBT/USD and WBT/EUR trading pairs, giving the asset another venue outside its home exchange.

The broader trend is easy to spot across crypto. Exchange tokens are increasingly being connected to staking, loyalty programs, launch platforms, blockchain networks and other services.

WBT Supply and Burn Mechanism

WBT’s supply mechanics are another part of the story.

The token’s full supply has been unlocked as of 2026, ending a phase of scheduled releases.

At the same time, the token’s burn mechanism remains active. WhiteBIT says its buybacks are funded by an amount corresponding to 33% of trading-fee income and 5% of income from other exchange activities, with the stated goal of reducing total supply toward 200 million WBT.

That creates a different supply dynamic from a token where emissions continue indefinitely.

It also means that the latest price move is taking place after several years of changes to the token’s distribution and utility rather than immediately following its launch.

Whitechain Adds a Blockchain Use Case

The other development worth watching is happening on Whitechain.

The network is moving from a standalone Layer 1 to an Ethereum Layer 2 built on the OP Stack. Its public Sepolia testnet is already live, while mainnet development is targeting fall 2026.

WBT remains the network’s native gas token. Whitechain says the transition does not change WBT’s supply or tokenomics, and existing balances are expected to carry over when the mainnet migration takes place.

The shift is part of a much larger industry trend. Ethereum Layer 2 networks have become a common route for projects looking for lower transaction costs and Ethereum settlement without operating a completely independent chain.

For WBT, that means the token’s use is no longer confined to exchange activity.

What’s Next for WhiteBIT?

At around $72, WBT is trading above its previous record and in a new price range. The token had already gained 28.3% over the prior 12 months before reaching the latest high.

WBT Price Action – TradingView

What is clearer is that WBT’s market story has changed over four years. It now combines exchange utility, external listings, a continuing burn mechanism and a role in a blockchain moving toward Ethereum Layer 2.

The new high puts those developments under greater market scrutiny. The next test will be whether activity around the token and its underlying infrastructure continues to grow after the price milestone.
