Cathie Wood
Cathie Wood is the founder and CEO of ARK Invest. She runs funds that try to find the next big technology shifts before they’re widely known. She became a major voice in crypto by staying very bullish on Bitcoin while placing big, public bets tied to it.
Wood is ARK’s Chief Investment Officer and a portfolio manager. Before ARK, she ran “thematic” investing at AllianceBernstein, after earlier roles at Tupelo Capital Management and Jennison Associates. She also started her career at Capital Group, and she earned a finance and economics degree from USC.
In 2025, Wood continued to push crypto as a mainstream investment. She did so by using ARK’s ETFs to make large, visible trades in crypto-related companies like Coinbase, even when the market looked unsure.
In 2026, Wood’s influence will depend on two things: whether ARK’s big tech bets recover, and whether Bitcoin keeps moving into more traditional finance channels. She has continued to argue that Bitcoin can beat older “store of value” assets over time, while still treating stablecoins as more of a spending tool than a long-term savings tool.
