In a bid to tackle the issue of how users can separate their Ethereum (ETH) and Ethereum Classic (ETC) coins, ShapeShift has unveiled a new digital currency feature designed to do the job.

The Ethereum Splitter tool is a new feature unveiled by the digital exchange platform, created to split ETH and ETC coins automatically.

According to the ShapeShift website, the splitter tool is intended to avoid attacks and prevent coins from going missing, providing users with the peace of mind to know their coins are safe. With the tool, users have the ability to ‘clean’ their balances, which will ensure that their ETH is transferred to a clean Ethereum address, and their ETC is sent to a clean Ethereum Classic address.

To make the entire process easy, ShapeShift has ensured that the splitter tool undertakes the splitting of Ethereum and Ethereum Classic automatically, only take a few minutes, and no more than five, for the transfer to complete.

Of course, it’s important for users to understand that they need to input new wallet addresses that they will have created, which is explained on the ShapeShift website. Once the two addresses have been added to their respective boxes, the splitter tool will then begin sending funds to the corresponding wallets.

For users to take advantage of this tool there is a 0.25 percent fee attached; however, that seems a relatively small fee for users to use a system that makes the whole process of splitting ETH and ETC easy. A minimum deposit of 0.5 Ethereum or Ethereum Classic is also required.
