  • Grand Theft Auto V joins Xbox Game Pass.
  • Fans are incredibly surprised by the announcement.
  • The reveal destroys a rumor about GTA 6 being a PlayStation 5 exclusive.

Microsoft stunned gamers when it announced that Grand Theft Auto V (GTA 5) would join Xbox Game Pass. But even more surprising was what the news revealed about every PlayStation fan’s favorite GTA 6 rumor.

Grand Theft Auto V Makes Grand Entrance to Xbox Game Pass

The announcement was a coup for Xbox Game Pass.

With approximately 110 million copies sold , Grand Theft Auto V is one of the best-selling video games of all time.

One Twitter user called it the “Best announcement yet if we are being honest,” while another tweeted that “people should buy an Xbox just for the Game Pass.”

It’s unclear how much money Microsoft paid GTA V developer Rockstar Games to get the game on Xbox Game Pass. But the announcement does seem to destroy a rumor about GTA 6 and PlayStation 5.

Wave Goodbye to This GTA 6 Rumor

Rumors have swirled about Grand Theft Auto VI for years, and they’ve ranged from the believable to the utterly insane.

One popular rumor was that GTA 6 might be a PlayStation 5 exclusive , and possibly even a PS5 launch title.

These rumors were always unlikely because Rockstar Games would lose tens of millions of dollars by not releasing the game on Microsoft’s upcoming console. But the Xbox Game Pass reveal makes it seem even more ridiculous.

Rockstar has offered exclusives to Sony before, but it seems that the publisher is happy to work with any company – including Microsoft – if it means that more people will play its games.

GTA 6 will probably depend heavily on microtransactions, so it will be essential to maximize player numbers.

At this point, it’s safe to say that there’s no way GTA 6 will be a PS5 exclusive.
