  • Van Morrison is alive and well.
  • Unfortunately, his latest musical offering is little more than a melange of weird COVID-19 conspiracy theories set to melodies.
  • Believe it or not, this is on-brand for him.

Fans of classic rock music can rest easy knowing that Van Morrison — he of “Brown Eyed Girl,” “Domino,” and “Into the Mystic” fame — is alive and well.

They may not be fans of his latest musical offering, though, which is three songs filled with all the weird COVID-19 conspiracy theories you can shake a proverbial stick at.

And while we may think that this is due to some combination of lockdown-induced psychosis and old age, the fact is, Morrison was always a grouch — this proves it.

Van Morrison Thinks Mask-Wearing and Fascism Are the Same Thing

Because he obviously has no clue what it means to live in a Fascist country, Van Morrison compared mask-wearing — the practice of wearing a mask to abate the spread of COVID-19 — to living in a world of far-right, authoritarian ultranationalism characterized by dictatorial power, forcible suppression of opposition, as well as strong regimentation of society and of the economy.

Anyway, have a listen to Morrison’s new musical offerings in the video below. Don’t expect “Moondance,” though.

Yeah…yikes.

This Is Nothing New For Him

Despite people being shocked that Northern Ireland’s health minister declared these “songs” as dangerous to the public’s health and well-being , this is nothing new for Van Morrison.

Throughout his career, Morrison has been described as “irascible ” and filled with rage . And this is to say nothing of the various anecdotes of musicians, both mainstream and independent, who have told tales of Morrison’s awful behavior and attitude.

Yet, for whatever reason, this was dismissed as part of his charm. Look at the musician being a jerk to everyone — isn’t he quite the artiste?

Except, in a post-MeToo world, that sort of thing doesn’t fly as well.

And neither should it.

Because as a result of allowing Van Morrison’s rude and disgusting behavior to carry on for so long, without any sort of reckoning or accountability, we have songs like the garbage above. Well done, boomers.
