- It was forced, uncomfortable, and deflected blame while shirking responsibility.
Ellen DeGeneres still doesn’t get it.
The colossal failure of this talk-show host to understand her role in the toxic work environment that she helped create, is truly extraordinary. In a macabre way, it’s even impressive.
No one, besides her, could have spoken for seven minutes and said absolutely nothing in the process.
Ellen DeGeneres Said A Whole Lot Of Nothing
Just take a listen to Ellen DeGeneres’ self-serving monologue below.
I’m not even sure where to begin with all the unremitting awfulness. Do we talk about her “non-apology apology,” in which she basically says “sorry if you’re offended”? Do we talk about how she started it all out with jokes, as though the level of abuse people endured at her hands — either directly or indirectly — is just good for a laugh? Or do we talk about how she insists she really is the “Be Kind” lady, while using the disgusting defense that she’s a gay woman who played a straight woman in movies, so she really is that good of an actress?
The whole monologue was just one big yikes from Ellen DeGeneres.
Everyone Can’t Be Lying
What Degeneres fails to take into account with her non-apology is that everyone can’t be lying. It’s not like there’s just one report of her being an absolute beast to people. It’s not just one disgruntled employee. It’s not one fan who has had a bad experience with her.
This time around, though, it doesn’t look like she can awkwardly dance her way out of this one. People are very hip to the game and no longer see her — or any other celebrity — as infallible. And there’s a strong chance that if she hadn’t been called out, Ellen DeGeneres would still be creating a miserable, toxic environment for her employees.
