  • A silly amount of games are free to play this weekend.
  • Includes 13 demos of unreleased indie games.
  • Conan Exiles, Wasteland 2, The Escapists, and more.

Publishers must be feeling in a festive mood courtesy of the upcoming holiday period (or possibly The Game Awards). There is a ridiculous amount of free games to play today and throughout the next few days.

48-Hour-only The Game Festival Demos

First up, we have the 13 unreleased game demos released as part of The Game Festival. The digital consumer event, as it’s been referred to, is running in conjunction with The Game Awards and lasts 48 hours.

With Chucklefish’s latest pixel art project Eastward, long-overdue reboot of System Shock, and bizarre role reversal horror game Carrion, there’s a lot to be excited about here. You can play them over on Steam  right now.

The Escapists

Next up, the Epic Games Store is once again flogging its free weekly game. This time around, it’s Mouldy Toof Studios’ The Escapists , a lighthearted open-ended prison sim about masterminding a breakout. Unlike the demos above, you can pick it up forever simply by logging in to your Epic Store account and claiming the game.

Conan Exiles

Strapping, sinewy barbarian multiplayer survival title Conan Exiles is free to play for the weekend . The game has landed a string of recent updates, and it’s arguably in the best shape ever. You can play free from right now until Monday, Dec. 9, at 10 am PT. If you’re taken and are ready to lay down some cash, then there’s also a discount available for the weekend.

Insurgency: Sandstorm

As a way of commemorating the first anniversary of Insurgency: Sandstorm’s release, the tactical multiplayer FPS is available to play for free via everyone’s favorite storefront, Steam .

Developer New World Interactive is feeling a bit more generous than others, so the free period runs beyond the weekend until Dec. 17. Similar to Conan Exiles, there’s a discount available when you buy the game outright.

Wasteland 2 Director’s Cut

As we reported yesterday, GOG is giving away Wasteland 2 Director’s Cut for free as part of its Winter Sale, which launched yesterday.

Fallout 76

To round things off, Fallout 76 is also free to try out from today until Monday . Bethesda’s beleaguered multiplayer survival game just received a new patch, so it might be time to give a go. If it’s still awful, at least you’ll only have lost your time.
