  • Four new Super Nintendo games are coming to Nintendo Switch Online.
  • That follows a three-month drought of new games for the service.
  • Nintendo needs to start adding more SNES games more often.

Nintendo is adding more Super Nintendo games to the Switch Online service this month. This includes Star Fox 2, Super Punch-Out!!, Kirby Super Star and Breath of Fire II .

Those are great games to add, but the fact it took Nintendo three months to drop four SNES games is just plain disgraceful.

Nintendo Needs to Take Advantage of the Super Nintendo’s Large Game Library

The problem here is that Super Nintendo has such a large library of games. There were a total of 1758 official SNES games  that came out for the console. Even considering all of those aren’t good, there are still plenty of options to choose from.

Where are any of the Final Fantasy games? Why can’t I play Chrono Trigger on my Switch? There’s also a distinct lack of Konami games such as Castlevania and Contra.

Nintendo can easily be adding a minimum of two Super Nintendo games per month on top of adding more NES games to the service. As it is right now, subscribers are getting much less than that.

Don’t Stick to a Once a Quarter Update Schedule

There’s another issue that Nintendo needs to deal with as well when it comes to these Super Nintendo game drops. It needs to keep adding games on a monthly basis.

This whole going quiet for three months and then dropping a measly amount of games just doesn’t cut it. Not only should the company be adding more games more frequently, but it also needs to better let subscribers know of its plans.

Wii U Owners Have Access to More SNES Games than Switch Owners

There’s another option that Nintendo has that would solve most of these problems.

Bring back the Virtual Console!

Virtual Console was such an easy way to just let players buy the games they want. It didn’t require a subscription and there are loads of more games available through it.

Seriously, when the Wii U has a better lineup of retro games  than the Nintendo Switch, you know there’s a problem.

Anyone still paying for Nintendo Switch Online can check out the new Super Nintendo games when they hit the service on Dec. 12, 2019.
