  • The Summer Game Fest is hosting a special showcase tomorrow.
  • Organizer Geoff Keighley described the event as “one of the more important moments this summer.”
  • We could be looking at a major reveal from a AAA publisher or even a next-gen console producer.

Geoff Keighley, host of The Game Awards and the mastermind behind the four-month-long digital Summer Game Fest (SGF), just revealed that tomorrow would mark one of the more significant gaming moments of the summer.

One of the Summer’s More Important Gaming Moments

The comment comes after the official Summer Game Fest Twitter account teased a Special Showcase for tomorrow , May 13, at 11 am ET.

Curiously short on details, the announcement refers only to a showcase and interview hosted by Geoff Keighley:

Advertising the event on his account Twitter account, Keighley fielded questions from fans.

One user asked whether tomorrow’s showcase would be “cool and fun” – a reference to how Keighley teased today’s Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 & 2 Remaster reveal .

Keighley’s response is sure to see expectations spike. It reads :

Wednesday is one of the more important moments this summer.

The closing moments of the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 & 2 Remaster broadcast  offered a similarly buoyant tease for tomorrow’s event, describing it as “one of the most important events of the Summer Game Fest schedule.”

Geoff Keighley Means Business

Keighley is undoubtedly in the business of hyping-up video games, courtesy of his position at the helm of The Game Awards. But he’s been prudent in how he’s pushed Summer Game Fest announcements to date.

Xbox and Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Valhalla “gameplay trailer” misfire will be fresh in everyone’s mind, and a repeat would be disastrous – even for those not directly involved.

“Cool and fun” was the ideal way to describe today’s announcement, perfectly managing expectations without overselling the reveal. Keighley’s words suggest tomorrow’s SGF showcase will be a momentous occasion.

As for what the showcase might contain, it’s anyone’s guess. It isn’t unreasonable to correlate an “important moment” with a AAA release or even a next-gen console announcement. The use of “showcase” further suggests multiple games might be on the bill.

At this point, the agenda remains very much in the domain of speculation. Luckily, we don’t have to wait long to find out.
