  • A PS5 demo kiosk has reportedly appeared at a retail store in the United Kingdom.
  • The kiosk features PlayStation branding that aligns with official PS5 promotional materials.
  • Could it signal an imminent announcement from Sony about PS5 pre-orders and a price point?

We’ve been waiting for what feels like forever to take the PlayStation 5 (PS5) for a test drive, and it looks like that wait is almost over.

U.K. electronics outlets are reportedly starting to receive dedicated PS5-themed demo kiosks.

A picture of one such PS5 promotional module decked out with a sofa and familiar branding  surfaced online today. It’s presumed to have come from the inside of a branch of U.K. retailer Currys PC World.

Could this mean Sony is about to kick start the promotional drive towards the launch of the PS5 later this year?

Does this mean would-be owners will have a chance to test drive the console very soon?

While nothing is confirmed yet, it certainly seems that way.

Is Sony About to Open Pre-Orders – And Finally Reveal the Console Price?

Rumors are already circulating about pre-orders going live soon. They’re supported by listings popping up on retailer websites like Amazon.

Assuming the pre-order window is about to open, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Sony launch in-store kiosks to show off the new console. Gamers may want to try out the system before committing to what many expect to be a hefty price tag.

The kiosk may be a sign another big announcement is on the horizon, which will presumably include the long-awaited price reveal.

Are We Sure the Picture Is Legit?

Before we get too excited about what this could mean for the PS5, there’s a debate in a Reddit thread discussing the picture . Some people speculate this could be nothing more than a PS4 kiosk cordoned off due to the pandemic.

That strikes me as unlikely. It seems a counterintuitive move so late in the generational cycle.

The branding aligns with the PS5 theme we’ve seen to date, notably the black, white, and blue color scheme.

And as another Reddit user points out , retailers only install these types of kiosks on the cusp of a promotional drive. They don’t want to risk wasting valuable sales space.

Given the lack of absolute certainty about whether this is a genuine PS5 demo setup, we’d recommend caution – though we’d understand if you’re unable to contain your excitement.
