Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Are Trapped in a Mess They Created

- Prince Harry and Meghan Markle recently filed another lawsuit against the paparazzi, this time over pictures of baby Archie.
- They’re the ones who created this mess.
- I’m not sure they hate it as much as they want us to think.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have crossed swords with the tabloids before – when they published personal letters between the Duchess of Muchness and her father. They’re at it again over pictures of baby Archie .
This latest lawsuit is about to get messy.
Harry is like a rabid dog with a bone, but Meghan is holding the leash.
Meghan Markle Snared the Duke in a Catch-22
Their latest victim is a paparazzo who has yet to be named. It’s the Sussexes against one group of photographers, who they claim used a drone to take pictures of Archie.
The lawsuit lays out Meghan’s side in typical Sussex fashion:
…the relentless and quite frankly shocking efforts of the tabloid media to profit from the serial intrusions [on Archie]…[We aim] to uncover the identity of those who took the photographs and those who are seeking to profit by selling them. [The Duke and Duchess] also seek to put any prospective purchasers of the photos on notice that they were taken illegally and are not what they purport to be.
How does our Prince feel about it? He’s not happy.
Harry has told a family friend that when it comes to Meghan and Archie, he’s not messing around.
He still blames the paparazzi for his mother’s death and he will do everything in his power to protect his family.
While this would be understandable given the tragic accident that killed Diana, it doesn’t quite add up.
Here we have a man who says he wants to protect his family, but he moved to Los Angeles and lives in a sprawling $18 million mansion.
His wife courts publicity like a black widow enticing a fly into its web. They’re frequently spotted out and about in Hollywood. And they’re happy to stay in the public eye as long as they write the narrative.
Either Harry is trapped in a situation beyond his control, or he’s deceptively tugging on the heartstrings of his once-adoring public, trying to garner sympathy.
At this point, I’m not sure what’s more likely.
Security Doesn’t Matter When You’re Strutting on the Sunset Strip
The lawsuit gives us a glimpse at the fortress the Sussexes have made for themselves. As well as a large mesh fence around the house, they boast a substantial security team.
That meant the photographers had to go to extraordinary lengths to get their pictures:
Some paparazzi and media outlets have flown drones a mere 20 feet above the house, as often as three times a day, to obtain photographs of the couple and their young son in their private residence (some of which have been sold and published). Others have flown helicopters above the backyard of the residence, as early as 5:30 a.m. and as late as 7:00 p.m., waking neighbors and their son, day after day. And still others have even cut holes in the security fence itself to peer through it.
These measures might dissuade any paparazzo with a heart to put down the camera and walk away, but herein lies the trouble.
By ditching their duties and creating such a public stink with their various lawsuits and contradictory actions, Harry and Meghan made themselves a precious commodity.
It’s a bid to drum up attention by a couple who claim to hate the limelight but refuse to live outside of it.
Have Meg and Harry ever stopped to think that if they didn’t move to Los Angeles and out themselves as class A hypocrites, they wouldn’t get nearly as much attention as they do?
If they went gentle into that good night like they supposedly wanted to at first, things might be different. If they had settled down in Canada or moved to the Scottish Highlands, they may have had a chance at normalcy.
They never wanted that.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are stuck in a beast of their own making. And I’m not convinced they hate it as much as they say they do.
