Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Are ‘Eco-Warrior’ Hypocrites

  • Prince Harry touted his environmentalist credentials when he launched his Travalyst initiative last year.
  • Harry and Meghan Markle have long been hypocrites when it comes to fighting climate change.
  • The couple’s trip around Beverley Hills in a Cadillac Escalade, one of the most environmentally-hostile cars on the market, sums up their time in LA.

When it comes to comedic PR gaffes and head-slapping bewildering decisions, there’s no one quite like Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Since hanging up their barely used royal working boots, the couple has staggered from one ridiculous situation to another. They’re a modern-day Abbott and Costello – except they’re not in on the joke.

This time around, they’re taking backlash for a cause that’s allegedly close to “Simply” Harry’s heart: the environment.

Remember when Prince Harry was a climate change hero?

Ah, Travalyst. A noble initiative indeed.

I remember Prince Harry speaking at the big launch in Amsterdam, claiming he conceived the project when he was on a trip to the Caribbean.

There he met a young boy, only seven years old, who told him:

Because of your country, my country’s coral reef is dying.

Wow, is that inspiration for a charitable venture or what? I know it made me stop and think about the long-term consequences of my actions.

Of course, I had less to think about than Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The couple had flown on a private jet four times in eleven days that very summer . (That’s neither here nor there – right, Harry?)

Do as I say – and don’t challenge me on what I do

When asked about his use of private jets  while preaching about being kinder to the planet, Prince Harry responded:

Occasionally, there needs to be an opportunity based on a unique circumstance to ensure that my family are safe – it’s generally as simple as that.

Well, there we have it!

It’s fine for you to live your lavish lifestyle. God forbid you force your family to share a flight with the common plebs who pay for that lifestyle.

A year later, it seems nothing has changed for the Hollywood Hypocrites.

Only this week, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were seen being driven around Beverley Hills in a Cadillac Escalade.  One of the most pollution-heavy vehicles money can buy.

Seriously, what are Harry and Meghan’s PR people thinking?

Did nobody think to say, “Hold up a second, kids! Seeing as you’re constantly banging on about the environment, it may not be wise to galavant around in one of the world’s most environmentally unfriendly cars.”

I guess preserving that little kid’s coral reef in the Caribbean takes a back seat to strutting around Beverly Hills in style!

Don’t let Meghan Markle off the hook, either

This isn’t just Prince Harry’s problem. In her thoroughly uninspiring speech for the Girl Up Summit, Meghan Markle droned on about the need for all of us to take charge of the debate on various issues, including climate change.

Sure thing, Meg!

That’s rich coming from a woman who flew a total of 53 times internationally  in 12 months!

Research suggests Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are responsible for a carbon footprint 26 times that of the average British person.

And they’re the ones lecturing us on the environment?

Former Liberal Democrat MP Norman Baker commented to The Sun:

The only thing green about Prince Harry are his wellies. The self-appointed eco-warrior, who likes to lecture everybody else on climate change, is in the top one percent of people on the planet for carbon emissions. He should cut the carbon and, if not, at least cut the crap.

Honestly, you couldn’t make this stuff up.

If there’s one instance that sums Prince Harry and his eco-credentials up, it’s the time he told an audience of children:

Climate change is a humanitarian issue and one where we’ve been far too slow in waking up to and acting on the damaging impact our living is having on the world.

He said this mere days after spending $7,500 on a private helicopter  to fly him to Birmingham.

Do as I say, not as I do. That’s the Prince Harry way.
