Like clockwork, Steam’s annual autumnal discount jamboree is now live . As predicted by leaks last month, the Steam Autumn Sale sprang to life on Valve’s digital storefront a short while ago at 10 am PT/ 1 pm ET. It runs until 10 am PT/ 1 pm ET on Dec. 3.
Circumventing the usual convoluted features incorporated into past sales events, the Steam Autumn Sale is a more straightforward affair.
Valve has conjured up a rather fetching animated pixel-art rendition of an enthusiast game store in a metropolis; it appears half-way between a sodden Tokyo back alley and a dystopian cyberpunk city.
To simplify trawling through all the games on sale, Steam is offering useful categories including Japanese RPG, RTS games, fighting games, hack and slash games, and so on.
Stars of the show right now are City Skylines, Code Vein, and Gears 5. The last two released as recently as September, so the discounts are a welcome surprise.
We’ve also spotted some serious discounts on the excellent Souls-like The Surge 2, the open-water survival game Raft, the tactical Mutant Road To Eden, and Rockstar’s LA Noire, among numerous others.
As we’ve reported previously, discounts can vary widely between regions. You’re in luck if you happen to live in Argentina.
As is customary, the Steam Autumn Sale also signals the start of this year’s Steam Awards nominations .
Familiar award categories like Game of the Year return like previous years as do others but with revamped nomenclature such as The Better With Friends Award and The Outstanding Visual Style Award.
In total, there are eight categories. Nominations runs alongside the sale and end on Dec. 3. To participate, simply log in to your account and hit the link on the Store homepage, then nominate your favorite game for each category.
