After yesterday’s explosive news that Fortnite streamer Ninja is leaving Amazon’s Twitch and moving his entire operation over to Microsoft-owned platform Mixer, the king of YouTube himself Felix ”PewDiePie” Kjellberg has weighed in on the matter.
Unsurprisingly, he doesn’t hold back any punches and takes tangible pleasure in mocking Ninja despite the two teaming up for a Friday Fortnite event back in June. There’s no love lost between the two internet personalities. The disdain PewDiePie uses to spit out the word Mixer is enough to understand what he thinks of the high profile move.
An initial reaction of jovial surprise gives way to juicy details about what exactly convinced Ninja to relocate to Mixer. To no one’s surprise and as speculated by fans and detractors alike, Ninja stands to bolster his bank balance considerably from the deal.
Talking about a conversation he recently shared with long-time collaborator and fellow YouTube star JackSepticEye, PewDiePie says, hardly able to contain his amusement:
“Jack told me yesterday. He’s like, ‘Mixer came to me with a lot of money and then all the sudden they said no.’ Now we know where that money went. That’s funny. They didn’t say no to him; they just said ‘we spent the money already.'”
Commenting on Ninja’s sudden departure from Twitch, PewDiePie remarks:
“Everyone knows DLive is the greatest platform. I don’t understand what Ninja is doing over at Mixer. Pathetic.”
But then, PewDiePie would say that having switched to the up and coming blockchain-powered DLive platform as a result of Twitch banning him due a well-documented incident involving a heated match of PUBG, a bridge, and a racial slur.
Nestled among the smiles and roasts, astute observers may detect a possible hint of jealousy hidden in there. With Twitch no longer on the cards and Mixer not a good fit for his divisive brand of comedy – not to speak of his colorful use of language – PewDiePie is limited to only a few options.
Seeing Ninja get the pick of the litter although he’s been caught uttering derogatory terms himself can’t be all that easy to stomach for the Swedish YouTube star.
