The new project Egretia  is working with Egret Technologies to bring its own blockchain platform to the HTML5 development industry. The solution consists of adding blockchain into the existing Egret workflow for developers, as well as creating distributed communications and storage services, a virtual goods trading platform, and an advertising platform. The Egreten token will be used for transactions within the Egretia public chain.

Today HTML5 technology is globally recognized, covering mobile games, advertising, video, and other industries. One of the major HTML5 developers is Egret Technologies. It introduced the HTML5 gaming industry after its game Catch the Crazy Cat became popular in 2014, reaching approximately 100 million page views within three days of its launch, the official website claims.

Since then, Egret Technology has developed 14 products such as the Egret Engine, Egret Runtime, DragonBones, and Egret Wing, creating a complete HTML5 development workflow. There are currently over two hundred thousand developers working with Egret software worldwide. Egret itself worked extensively with Xiaomi, Tencent, Baidu, Microsoft, and others. According to data provided by the company, Egret Runtime is installed on more than one billion mobile devices around the globe.

Egretia  collaborates with Egret Technologies to integrate their workflow with the blockchain technology, thus boosting the further development of the whole industry. As Egretia’s representative says, despite fast growth, HTML5 game development still lacks several important solutions, including a unified system for payments and storage of users’ assets, rapid response to distributed back-end communications, protection of intellectual property, and diversified approaches to monetize internet traffic.

Egretia key features

Egretia creates its own public chain through the Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) consensus mechanism, aiming at optimizing HTML5 game performance. The DPoS mechanism is like a board vote, where holders of coins cast many nodes, using the mechanism for verification and bookkeeping. DPoS can significantly reduce the amount of participating nodes for verification and bookkeeping and can achieve consensus verification in a second. Through the blockchain interface layer and in combination with the Egret engine tools, developers can create blockchain-based DApps very efficiently without spending a lot of time on studying the underlying technology.

Egretia’s public chain has high concurrent processing power where performance is optimized for the needs of the gaming industry. Using a DPoS mechanism, Egretia now supports more than 2,000 TPS (transactions per second), and the TPS will be improved to a higher level in the future. The company representative added that they will post all code of Egretia’s public chain on Github.

Egretia can modify system parameters without bifurcation. Instead, it allows for dynamic adjustments of parameters including block size, output speed, and handling fees through a consensus voting method.

Egretia will offer a software development kit (SDK) with engine and tools, which will allow all HTML5 games to “easily” access the blockchain. With the SDK, developers can create HTML5 games and applications that provide blockchain capabilities like a digital wallet and smart contracts.

As the company states, in the future it will extend its blockchain to support not only Egretia chain, but also Ethereum, EOS, and other public chains, “so that all HTML5 developers can efficiently create blockchain-based games and applications”.

Egreten token

To run the blockchain platform, Egretia will issue its own token, Egreten, for different purposes.

For instance, users can use it to buy in-game items and pay for the content, take part in promotions, or get Egreten as a reward for participating in crowdfunding campaigns. In turn, developers get Egreten for operating games, and content publishers can use Egreten to advertise on the Egretia advertising platform.

Egretia will also create a wallet for Egreten to store users’ virtual assets, goods, crowdfunding, and in-game rewards.

PC, mobile, and browser versions of the wallet are in development.
