On 4/10/14, Mining ASICs Technologies B.V. (MAT) announced that they had Data Center grade machines available for pre-order NOW .  Mining ASICs Technologies believes that ASIC mining is entering a new stage, a stage dominated by data centers.  KnCMiner, MAT’s European competitor, also feels the same way and is building its very own data center to host unsold miners.  Mining ASICs Technologies will offer data center grade machines with better cooling and power consumption figures in order to compete.  Large scale orders of 1 or more GH/s worth of Scrypt ASICs (two orders of EXCALIBUR 5, minimum) would be available for discounted preorder in exchange for a full payment in advance.  KnCMiner and Fibonacci are two Scrypt ASIC companies that require 100% payment upfront; in contrast, Alpha Technology is the first ASIC mining company to pioneer the 1/3 now, 2/3 later payment plan to instill confidence.

Mining ASICs Technologies now offers both options to potential customers, as revealed in a recent press release:

Today we are happy to announce that we can reduce the price for our Scrypt Asic miners Excalibur 4 and Excalibur 5.

We offer now:

–          Asic Scrypt miner Excalibur 4 for only € 5.499,00 or US $ 7.499,00 for 2 x 125 MH/s.  Buy 1 and get 1 for free! This special price is only for 100% pre-payment.

–          Asic Scrypt miner Excalibur 5 for only € 9.999,00 or US $ 13.698,00 for 2 x 250 MH/s.  Buy 1 and get 1 for free! This special price is only for 100% pre-payment.

We can call it an Easter Sale.  Mining ASICs Technologies will soon be accepting Litecoin payments, which competitor KnCMiner already does.  However, Mining ASICs Technologies will be one of the first Scrypt ASIC companies to accept Dogecoin.  Realistically, a lot of these Scrypt ASIC miners will be used to dig for Dogecoin, not to mine for Litecoin.  As of right now, according to CoinWarz , Dogecoin is 35% more profitable to mine than Litecoin.

Elsewhere In The Scrypt ASIC Race

When I first wrote about KnCMiner’s Titan Scrypt ASIC Miner, it was purported to have a blazing fast 100 MH/s on a PCI-e card.  Since that date, several Scrypt ASIC companies have come forward to trade and match blows in an increasingly competitive Scrypt ASIC Race.  Since then, KnCMiner has upgraded the Titan completely free of charge from 100 MH/s to 250 MH/s and now to 300 MH/s .  Initially, Alpha Technology followed KnCMiner and Mining ASICs Technologies down the long rabbit hole of changing prices and hashrates; however, at the end of March, Alpha Technology announced their intention to abandon the Scrypt ASIC pricing race to the bottom and instead promised to deliver “long before any of our competitors even ship.”  It is unclear which company will be the first to ship though each company is in varied stages of development or production.  The most important competition is which company ships its units first.

As a result of the Scrypt ASIC race, every Scrypt ASIC company has upgraded their initial offerings by nearly threefold in response to each others’ actions over the course of the last few months.  Many onlookers have remarked that if the current pricing is still profitable for the manufacturers, then the previous prices were a blatant case of fleecing.  Other spectators have commented that Scrypt ASIC companies must have been anticipating this breakneck competition and announced their initial offerings accordingly.
