Ahead of Fortnite’s mysterious Chapter 2 launch and following yesterday’s cataclysmic ‘The End’ event, a new trailer has leaked online today.
The 30-second trailer is specifically for the Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 1 Battle Pass and appears to highlight a bunch of new features headed to Epic Games’ battle royale phenomenon. The main change is a brand new map alongside what seems to be a graphical face-lift defined by darker hues and sharper visuals.
New locations include a power station, lighthouse, beachfront area, a dam, mountainous wooded area, an exploding gas station, summer camp-like fishing hole, a waterfall, a shop/restaurant called Sticks, and a network of waterways.
In the trailer, we also catch glimpses of new game play mechanics coming to Fortnite, including speed boats, swimming, fishing, diving, pogo sticks, and a new feature that allows players to carry fallen teammates.
Weapons-wise, there appears to be a bandage launcher, which seemingly heals allies when fired, a brand new assault rifle, and shotgun.
As for the Battle Pass, there are new ways to level up, in particular, three new upgradable tiers, specifically Battle, Survival, and Scavenge. It’s unclear as of writing precisely what this entails or how they work, but the trailer hints at over 100 unlockable rewards in keeping with Fortnite’s tradition of launching new skins with each successive season.
The leak confirms the Chapter 2 rumors circulating thanks to a listing promo shot on the Apple App Store earlier this week.
As for the game itself, the gently swirling black hole blackout remains unchanged with troves of players eagerly awaiting the launch of Chapter 2 over on Twitch , with some even blaming Elon Musk for the outage. Fortnite’s social channels remain dark as well, despite reports Chapter 2 is available to pre-load in China and will go live soon.
