Hate has surrounded The Last of Us Part 2 since it leaked, and the game’s release did nothing but stoke the flames. Fans went after Abby’s arms, the controversial mid-game switch up, and so much more.
But the hate didn’t matter, as The Last of Us Part 2 is now the third highest-grossing game under Sony in the United States .
Yes, in history. Suck it, haters.
For some reason, gamers went in on this title. Many claimed it had “SJW” intent or that bulky women were unrealistic, among other moments that had no impact on the game’s quality.
Part of this hate was due to the game’s plot leaking and presenting elements entirely out of context. Some gamers took to canceling pre-orders, and some tried to form an official boycott .
Upon release, The Last of Us Part 2 became the fastest-selling first-party PlayStation 4 exclusive ever , despite some massive user-review bombing on Metacritic .
‘Naughty Dog’s latest permadeath update patch will have gamers returning to the challenging, glorious visual-feast of a game.
But that’s not all. The Last of Us Part 2’s success will more than likely continue on PlayStation 5.
With the original Last of Us coming at the end of the PS3 era, developer Naughty Dog released a remastered PS4 edition one year later. This became the definitive way to play.
The Last of Us Part 2 is likely to get a remastered PlayStation 5 edition with a higher frame-rate and even-better visuals. The game’s standalone multiplayer will probably be there too.

Naughty Dog has even hinted at a third game in the future. Despite hater intent, this award-winning franchise is bound to live on, and even flourish.
No whiny gamer can do anything about that.
